To use Dolby Atmos for Headphones with an Astro A50, use the Xbox edition of the headset and set it up through Dolby Access on Xbox or a supported Windows PC. The exact setup depends on your A50 generation: confirm the model and follow its connection instructions before opening the app.
Check which Astro A50 you have
First identify the generation and platform edition. Logitech distinguishes Xbox and PlayStation versions of its Gen 4 A50, and Dolby’s compatibility listing specifically names the “A50 Wireless Headset + Base Station for Xbox.” Check the label or product listing for the Xbox edition; do not assume a PlayStation version is interchangeable. Dolby lists the Xbox A50 as compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 and 11 PCs, while Logitech’s Gen 4 Xbox listing describes that product’s offer details.
Set up Dolby Atmos for Headphones
- Connect the headset for its generation and platform. Use the instructions for the exact A50 model you own. For example, Logitech specifies HDMI 2.1 to Xbox Series X|S and USB-C to PC/Mac for the A50 X; those connection details are model-specific and should not be applied to Gen 4. - Open Dolby Access. Install or launch Dolby Access on your Xbox or supported Windows PC. Dolby identifies the app as the place to set up a Dolby device and adjust its audio settings. Dolby’s A50 compatibility page and Dolby’s headphone setup page describe the app and supported platforms.
- Follow Dolby Access’s prompts. Select the Dolby Atmos for Headphones setup option and complete the on-screen steps. The app may prompt you to start a trial or activate an entitlement.
- Check whether your unit has an activation code. Logitech’s cited Gen 4 Xbox product listing says it included a two-year Dolby Atmos activation code. That offer does not guarantee an unused code with a secondhand, refurbished, or differently listed headset; check the specific unit and whether its code has already been redeemed.
What to do if setup does not work
- The app does not recognize the headset: Confirm that you have the Xbox edition, then check the base station and headset connections against the instructions for your generation.
- You are asked to activate Atmos: Check the package or purchase listing for the applicable code, and verify its redemption status. The Gen 4 listing’s two-year code offer is not proof that every A50 includes a redeemable code.
- You own an A50 X: Use its own connection directions rather than assuming the Gen 4 wiring applies; Logitech specifies HDMI 2.1 for Xbox Series X|S and USB-C for PC/Mac.
Dolby’s published A50 guidance establishes the app and platform compatibility, but does not provide a current, complete sequence of Xbox Settings or Windows Sound menu labels. Follow the prompts shown in Dolby Access rather than relying on a potentially outdated menu path.
