On a standard PS5, QSSR is enabled through a supported game—not a console-wide setting. Update the game, then use its graphics options if it offers a QSSR choice. In Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac says QSSR is on by default after update 1.002.000, so no separate toggle is required.
What QSSR is—and which PS5 games support it
QSSR stands for Quick Spectral Super Resolution. Sony describes it as a streamlined, hand-tuned AI upscaling technology derived from PSSR and designed as a new performance tier for the standard PS5. Sony says QSSR improves image detail and stability, but its announcement provides no quantified results or independent measurements. Sony announced QSSR support first for Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei, adding it through game updates as a graphics option. The supported-game list may grow, but the announcement does not name further titles.
Enable QSSR in a supported game
Marvel’s Wolverine
- Update Marvel’s Wolverine to version 1.002.000 or later.
- Launch the game. Insomniac’s update 1.002.000 notes say it “Uses QSSR on PS5, on by default.” The documented action is to install the update; the notes do not direct players to enable another setting.
Ghost of Yōtei
Install the game update, then look in the game’s graphics options for QSSR. Sony confirms that the patch adds a QSSR graphics option, but its English announcement does not state the exact menu path or whether the option is on by default. Check the game’s current menus rather than relying on a specific button sequence.

Why you won’t find a QSSR switch in PS5 system settings
QSSR is documented as a feature added to supported games, not a universal toggle for standard PS5 consoles. Do not confuse it with the PS5 Pro’s “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” setting: PlayStation’s PS5 resolution support page says that setting is available only on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group.
What to expect from the graphics option
Sony and the developers describe QSSR as improving detail and image stability. The official sources cited here do not provide measured resolution gains, frame-rate effects, or a controlled comparison with other graphics modes. Choose among a game’s available modes based on its descriptions and your preference; treat claims about specific performance differences as unverified unless supported by reliable, title-specific testing.
