To enable Secure Boot to play Battlefield 6 on Windows 11 or Windows 10, confirm that Windows uses UEFI, the system disk uses GPT, and TPM 2.0 is ready. Then open UEFI firmware settings, enable Secure Boot, save, reboot, and verify Secure Boot State: On in msinfo32.
Battlefield 6’s PC security requirements can produce Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, or anti-cheat launch errors. The checks below separate what you can verify in Windows from the firmware changes that must be made outside normal Windows settings.
Firmware screens differ by manufacturer and motherboard model. Treat menu names as examples, and use the exact documentation for the computer when a setting is unavailable, locked, or marked unsupported.
Key takeaways
- Battlefield 6 on PC requires TPM 2.0 to be enabled, according to EA’s TPM 2.0 guidance.
- Secure Boot requires UEFI firmware and a GPT-formatted Windows system disk; Legacy BIOS and MBR configurations must be addressed first.
- In
msinfo32, the required results areBIOS Mode: UEFIandSecure Boot State: On. - In
tpm.msc, the TPM should be ready for use and showSpecification Version: 2.0. - Changing a normal UEFI setting is lower risk than converting an MBR disk, which requires a backup and careful confirmation of the correct disk number.
What must be true before Battlefield 6 can launch?
Battlefield 6 security checks depend on more than one Windows setting. The PC needs TPM 2.0, Secure Boot enabled in UEFI firmware, and a Windows installation that boots in UEFI mode from a GPT disk.

How do you check Secure Boot in Windows 11 or Windows 10?
The fastest Secure Boot check uses the built-in System Information tool.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
msinfo32and press Enter. - In System Summary, find BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State.
If BIOS Mode says UEFI and Secure Boot State says Off, the PC is normally ready for the firmware step. If Secure Boot says Unsupported, stop there and check the exact PC or motherboard specifications and support documentation. A generic BIOS instruction cannot guarantee support on an unsupported system.
EA’s official Secure Boot guide uses these same checks and explains that firmware menus vary by manufacturer.
How do you check whether TPM 2.0 is enabled?
The TPM check uses Windows Trusted Platform Module management.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
tpm.mscand press Enter. - Check that the TPM is Ready for use.
- Confirm that Specification Version is 2.0.
EA Help states, “You need TPM 2.0 enabled to play Battlefield 6.” If the TPM is missing or not ready, TPM may be disabled in UEFI firmware, or the PC may not support TPM 2.0. EA says a PC that cannot support TPM 2.0 cannot play Battlefield 6 on PC; check the official TPM 2.0 instructions for the relevant platform guidance.
How do you check whether the Windows disk uses GPT?
Secure Boot requires the Windows system disk to use GPT rather than MBR.
- Right-click the Start button and open Disk Management.
- Identify the disk containing the Windows installation. Do not assume it is Disk 0 if the computer has multiple drives.
- Right-click the disk label on the left side of the lower pane, such as Disk 0, and select Properties.
- Open the Volumes tab and inspect Partition style.
The desired result is GUID Partition Table (GPT). If the disk is Master Boot Record (MBR) and msinfo32 reports Legacy BIOS, the boot configuration must be handled before Secure Boot can be enabled.

What should you do if BIOS Mode says Legacy?
A Legacy BIOS installation may need to be converted from MBR to GPT and then booted through UEFI before Secure Boot becomes available.

EA’s procedure uses the Windows mbr2gpt utility from an elevated Command Prompt or PowerShell. First validate the disk:
mbr2gpt /validate /disk:0 /allowFullOS
Only after validation succeeds does EA provide the conversion command:
mbr2gpt /convert /disk:0 /allowFullOS
Important: disk:0 is only an example. Replace it with the actual Windows disk number identified in Disk Management. Before attempting conversion, make a current backup and confirm the disk number carefully. Do not treat every MBR installation as automatically safe to convert, and do not assume the conversion is reversible.
After a successful conversion, enter UEFI firmware settings and ensure the system boots through UEFI. The exact sequence and menu names depend on the PC or motherboard manufacturer.

How do you enter UEFI firmware settings from Windows?
Windows Advanced Startup can restart the computer directly into the UEFI firmware interface.
- In Windows Search, find Change Advanced Startup Options.
- Open the result and select Restart now under Advanced startup.
- After the restart, choose Advanced options.
- Select UEFI Firmware Settings.
- Choose Restart to enter the firmware interface.
Windows 11 and Windows 10 can show slightly different surrounding screens or wording. If UEFI Firmware Settings is not listed, the PC may be using Legacy BIOS, or the firmware may expose a manufacturer-specific recovery path.

How do you enable Secure Boot in BIOS or UEFI?
Secure Boot is enabled inside the UEFI firmware interface, not through an ordinary Windows Settings toggle.
- Open the firmware interface using Windows Advanced Startup or the manufacturer’s documented startup key.
- Look under a menu named Boot, Security, or something similar.
- Set Secure Boot to Enabled.
- If the firmware offers OS Type, choose Windows UEFI mode.
- Save the changes and reset the computer.
Firmware interfaces differ across Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Acer, custom-built PCs, and other manufacturers. Menu names, key prompts, and required prerequisites are not universal.
Some systems require the factory Secure Boot keys to be restored before Secure Boot can be enabled. Other systems require a BIOS administrator password. If Secure Boot is locked, greyed out, or unavailable, use the exact instructions for the PC or motherboard model rather than applying a generic setting.
How do you verify Secure Boot and TPM after rebooting?
After Windows starts again, verify both features rather than relying only on the Battlefield 6 error message.
- Open
msinfo32. - Confirm BIOS Mode is UEFI.
- Confirm Secure Boot State is On.
- Open
tpm.msc. - Confirm the TPM is ready for use and the specification version is 2.0.
Some Windows versions may need an additional restart before Secure Boot is fully recognized. Once both checks show the required values, try launching Battlefield 6 again.

If Windows reports UEFI, Secure Boot On, and a ready TPM 2.0 but Battlefield 6 still fails, check EA’s current Battlefield 6 error-message guidance.
| Observed result | Likely next action | Risk or limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Secure Boot Off; BIOS Mode UEFI | Enter UEFI and enable Secure Boot. | Usually a firmware setting change, but menus vary. |
| Secure Boot Unsupported | Check the exact PC or motherboard specification. | There may be no supported generic fix. |
| BIOS Mode Legacy | Address UEFI boot mode and MBR/GPT layout. | Disk conversion needs backup and correct disk identification. |
| TPM missing or not ready | Check firmware support and enablement. | TPM 2.0 may be unsupported; EA says unsupported PCs cannot play. |
| Secure Boot locked | Check factory keys and BIOS administrator-password requirements. | The required procedure is manufacturer-specific. |
| All checks pass but launch still fails | Review EA’s error guidance, including EA Javelin Anticheat conditions. | Secure Boot may not be the remaining cause. |
EA’s error guidance sends players back to the Secure Boot guide when Secure Boot is not enabled and separately identifies EA Javelin Anticheat-related disallowed-software conditions. A successful firmware check does not guarantee that every launch error has been resolved.

Can you enable Secure Boot without changing the Windows installation?
You can usually enable Secure Boot without disk conversion when msinfo32 already shows UEFI and Disk Management shows GPT. A Legacy BIOS or MBR installation requires more careful preparation because the boot mode and partition style must be made compatible first.
Do not begin an MBR-to-GPT conversion merely because Battlefield 6 displays a security error. Confirm the current BIOS mode, identify the Windows disk, back up important data, and use the manufacturer-specific and EA-supported process appropriate to the computer.
Does this guide apply to both Windows 11 and Windows 10?
The diagnostic tools and core checks apply to both Windows 11 and Windows 10, but the Advanced Startup wording and UEFI menu layout can differ by Windows version, PC maker, motherboard, and firmware version. The decisive verification remains the same: UEFI mode, Secure Boot On, GPT system disk, and TPM 2.0 ready for use.
