To enable Super Chat on a looping YouTube live stream, your channel must first qualify for Supers. In YouTube Studio, go to Earn > Supers > Get started, complete the prompts and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) if YouTube asks, then switch on Super Chat. YouTube documents no separate setting for loops: the usual eligibility and live-chat requirements still apply.
Check eligibility before changing settings
The Supers section appears in YouTube Studio only when the channel is eligible. You need to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), be at least 18, be in a location where Super Chat is available, and accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module or earlier Commerce Product Addendum. Availability by country can change, so check YouTube’s current eligibility information if you are unsure. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility guidance lists the requirements.
Super Chat also depends on live chat being available. It is a paid, highlighted message in live chat, not a separate donation control on the video. A looping broadcast does not bypass these conditions.
Turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio using the channel you want to monetize.
- In the left menu, select Earn, then open Supers.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen prompts. Accept the CPM if prompted.
- Switch on Super Chat. Super Stickers have a separate switch, so enabling one does not necessarily enable the other.
YouTube may update Studio labels or the setup flow. If the Supers area is missing rather than merely switched off, troubleshoot eligibility and stream settings below instead of looking for a loop-specific control. YouTube’s setup instructions describe the Studio path.

Make sure the live stream itself can use Super Chat
Even if Supers is enabled for the channel, individual streams can be ineligible. YouTube says Super Chat is unavailable on private or unlisted videos, age-restricted videos, Made for Kids content, and content associated with a YouTube Giving fundraiser. It also requires chat to be available. Check the stream’s visibility and audience settings, and confirm live chat has not been disabled. See YouTube’s eligibility rules for the current list.
Viewers watching an embedded player cannot use YouTube live chat there. If someone cannot see chat or Super Chat controls in an embed, ask them to open the stream on its YouTube watch page. YouTube’s live chat guidance explains where chat is available.

Does looping content qualify for monetization?
A loop is not automatically eligible or disqualified just because it repeats. YouTube’s monetization policies say content should be original and authentic, and identify repetitive or mass-produced content with little variation or viewer value as potentially ineligible. The policy applies to live streams; reviewers may consider a channel’s main theme, popular and recent uploads, watch-time share, and metadata. Make the stream meaningfully valuable to viewers and ensure you have the necessary rights to every visual and audio element. YouTube’s channel monetization policies explain how repetitive content is treated.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for obtaining necessary rights, including music licensing rights, on the content provider. A song being available elsewhere online does not by itself establish that you can use it in a monetized live stream. Review the YouTube Terms of Service and secure the rights relevant to your material.

Keep a copy of a long broadcast
Enabling Super Chat and preserving a replay are separate issues. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams that exceed 12 hours may not be captured at all. The archive guidance does not say that crossing 12 hours turns off Super Chat during a live broadcast; the uncertainty is about replay capture. If preserving the full stream matters, make a local recording rather than relying only on YouTube’s archive. See YouTube’s live stream archiving guidance.
Use a looping stream workflow that supports YouTube Live
If you are sending prerecorded video through an encoder, the standard workflow is to enter YouTube’s Live server URL and the channel’s stream key in the encoder, then start sending the stream. YouTube supports multiple ways to stream and does not require a particular encoder to enable Super Chat. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel. Follow YouTube’s current encoder streaming instructions for the method you use.

Troubleshoot missing controls or unavailable Super Chat
- Supers is not in Studio: Check that the channel is in YPP and meets the age, location, and agreement requirements. YouTube shows Supers only when the channel is eligible. Review the eligibility rules.
- Super Chat is not available on one stream: Check that it is not private or unlisted, age-restricted, Made for Kids, or associated with a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and that live chat is enabled. YouTube lists these stream-level exclusions.
- Viewers cannot find chat in an embedded stream: Direct them to the YouTube watch page, where live chat is available. See YouTube’s chat guidance.
- You expected a replay of a very long stream: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. Make a local recording when replay preservation matters. See the archive guidance.
- YouTube limits monetization on a repeated loop: Review whether the material offers original value and whether you hold the necessary rights. Repetition alone is not stated as an automatic ban, but repetitive or mass-produced content with little variation or viewer value may be ineligible. Check the monetization policy.
