To send viewers from your live stream to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream, edit the source video in YouTube Studio and set its destination under Customization > Redirect. YouTube’s documented eligibility for creators sending a redirect is more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
Before you set up a redirect
- Sender eligibility: YouTube Help says the channel sending viewers must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is a Live Redirect requirement, separate from YouTube’s requirements for enabling live streaming.
- Destination options: You can choose one of your own Premieres or search for another channel’s live stream. The destination must be an upcoming Premiere or an active or upcoming live stream to appear as an eligible choice.
- Permission for another channel: The receiving channel must allow your channel to redirect viewers to its content. Your own Premiere does not require another channel’s permission.
YouTube’s Help page describes the feature as a way to send viewers to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. Interface labels can vary by locale; the steps below use the English Studio labels documented by YouTube.
Set up Live Redirect in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio for the channel that will send viewers.
- Select Content, then open the Live tab.
- Find the live video you want to redirect from, hover over it, and choose Edit.
- Open Customization.
- In the Redirect section, select Add.
- Select one of your Premieres, or search for another channel’s live stream and choose it as the destination.
- Save the changes if Studio presents a save option. When the source stream ends, YouTube displays a confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
You can use the same documented workflow for a Premiere as the source: find it in the Live tab, edit it, then choose its destination under Customization > Redirect > Add.
How to allow another channel to redirect to yours
If you want another creator to send viewers to your live stream, set the permission on the channel that will receive those viewers. In YouTube Studio, go to Settings > Community and choose a redirect permission.

- Channels I subscribe to can redirect to my content: Allows channels you subscribe to, provided your subscriptions are public.
- All channels can redirect to my content: Allows any channel. You cannot use this setting at the same time as the subscribed-channel permission or the specific-channel list.
- Specific channels who can redirect to my content: Lets you approve channels individually, up to 100. You can combine this list with the subscribed-channel permission.
Once permission is set, the other creator still needs to choose an eligible active or upcoming live stream or an upcoming Premiere as the destination.
What viewers see during the handoff
When the source stream ends, YouTube can autoplay the selected Premiere or live stream for viewers who have autoplay enabled. Viewers with autoplay disabled need to click Play to continue. The handoff may take a short time to load, so tell viewers in advance to wait briefly after your stream ends.

If you are redirecting to a Premiere, schedule and set up that Premiere before the source stream ends. That gives viewers a ready destination and makes the transition easier to follow.
Troubleshoot a missing destination or failed handoff
The other channel’s stream does not appear
- Ask the receiving channel to check YouTube Studio > Settings > Community and allow your channel through its selected permission option.
- Check that the destination is an active or upcoming live stream, or an upcoming Premiere. A past or otherwise unavailable event will not meet the documented availability criteria.
- If the receiving channel uses the subscribed-channel option, confirm that it subscribes to your channel and that its subscriptions are public.
- If the receiving channel uses a specific-channel list, ask it to verify that your channel is on the approved list.
Viewers do not move automatically
Autoplay-disabled viewers must click Play on the destination. Tell your audience that the destination may take a moment to load and that they may need to select Play themselves.

You cannot add or send a redirect
Check the sender channel’s eligibility: YouTube Help lists more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Do not confuse this with the separate rules for turning on live streaming.
