The Valiant Gargoyles are a paired boss in Elden Ring’s Siofra Aqueduct: the second joins the fight after you have weakened the first. Keep them separated as long as possible, watch for the first gargoyle’s poison breath, and do not build your plan around status effects—the enemies are reported to be immune to them. This guide covers the Siofra encounter, not the separate Valiant Gargoyle enemies in the Leyndell area.

The paired boss encounter is in Siofra Aqueduct. “Valiant Gargoyle” is also used for enemies in the Leyndell area, so check that your map and approach point to Siofra Aqueduct if you are looking for the paired fight.
How the Siofra boss fight works
You begin against one gargoyle. A second enters from above after the first has taken substantial damage, turning the encounter into a two-enemy fight. Eldenpedia describes the first as carrying a greatsword and halberd, and the second as carrying a great axe and twinblade. Their weapons and attack patterns differ, so identify which one is threatening you before choosing whether to close distance or retreat. How to beat the Valiant Gargoyles
Control spacing before the second arrives
One guide recommends drawing the first gargoyle away from the arena entrance so the newcomer has farther to travel when it joins. This can create a brief window to keep attacking the first or reposition, but the pair can still converge. Avoid getting pinned between them: move toward open ground and keep enough distance to see both enemies.
React to poison breath
The first gargoyle’s poison breath is described as a cone in front of it. Move behind the gargoyle if you can do so safely, or retreat out of the cone rather than trying to trade attacks through it. The attack is especially dangerous when the second enemy is also closing in, so prioritize a clean escape over squeezing in one more hit.

Choose a plan that does not depend on status effects
Valiant Gargoyles are reported to be immune to status effects, so poison, bleed, rot, or similar buildup should not be the centerpiece of your strategy. The available guides do not establish a single best weapon or build. Instead, favor tools and tactics that let you manage spacing and land reliable damage, and adjust your approach to weapon reach and the number of enemies currently pressuring you.
Use Spirit Ashes if they suit your approach
A secondary guide discusses Spirit Ash availability, but the sources do not establish one universally best summon or prove that a particular setup is required. If you use Spirit Ashes, treat them as a way to divide the gargoyles’ attention and create attack windows, not as a substitute for watching both enemies.
Do not confuse this pair with Leyndell’s Valiant Gargoyles
Other enemies share the Valiant Gargoyle name in the Leyndell area. Game8 describes a Leyndell/Capital Outskirts mini-boss that drops Gargoyle’s Great Axe; Eldenpedia separately lists a West Capital Rampart enemy with a greatsword and halberd, and another with a great axe and twinblade. Those encounters are not the Siofra Aqueduct pair, so their location, drops, and fight context should not be applied to this boss.

Published guides give conflicting rune totals for the Siofra encounter: Eldenpedia lists 30,000, Game8 lists 22,500, and Pro Game Guides lists 32,000. Because these figures do not agree and the sources do not explain the difference, there is no reliable single total to promise here. Check your own game’s result rather than planning around one of those published numbers.
