To get a Fortnite Item Shop skin, open the Item Shop in Fortnite or the official web shop, sign in to the Epic Games account you want to use, and buy the skin while it is available. There is no separate claim process for a regular shop skin, and Epic Support cannot grant an offer that is no longer in the shop.
How to buy a skin from the Item Shop
- Open an official shop. Use the Item Shop in Fortnite or Epic’s online Item Shop. Epic lists these as the ways to buy cosmetics; Support cannot sell a cosmetic separately by deducting V-Bucks. See Epic’s purchase guidance.
- Sign in to the right Epic account. On the web shop, make sure the account shown is the one you intend to receive the cosmetic. On console or another platform, check that Fortnite is using the intended account.
- Find the outfit and check its details. Review the displayed price and availability or end date in the item description before proceeding. A web listing can remain visible even after an item is no longer purchasable.
- Complete the purchase. Follow the on-screen checkout instructions and confirm the payment method shown. Shop cosmetics are commonly bought with V-Bucks. Buying the item while it is offered is what people usually mean by “claiming” a shop skin.
What to do if a skin is missing or unavailable
The Item Shop rotates. If the skin is no longer offered, check the live shop again later; Epic does not promise a return date for a particular item. Its return guidance says the shop constantly rotates and Support cannot grant offers that are not currently available.

Do not treat a web page or search result showing a skin as proof that you can still buy it. Epic notes that an item may remain displayed on the website after its purchase window has ended. Check the description for the end date and whether the item can actually be purchased; see Epic’s explanation of unavailable web listings.
When the Item Shop refreshes
Epic says the in-game Item Shop and Webshop refresh at around 0:00 AM GMT. “Around” is important: for the time-zone information relevant to your account, check the shop’s About Shop panel rather than assuming a fixed local refresh time. Details are in Epic’s refresh-time help page.

Can a skin return after leaving the shop?
It may return as the shop rotates, but Epic does not give a guaranteed date or promise that any particular skin will return. One narrower policy note concerns Battle Pass items released after August 7, 2024: Epic says those items may be available in the Shop at least 18 months after the relevant Pass expires, with no guarantee. That statement applies to those qualifying Battle Pass items; it is not a general return schedule for Item Shop skins. Check Epic’s current item-return guidance for its wording.
If you bought the wrong item
For eligible Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks, Epic describes two self-service options. They have different time limits and requirements, and neither means every purchase can be refunded.

- Cancel Purchase: You may be able to cancel within 24 hours if the cosmetic has not been used or equipped in any game mode.
- Return Ticket: If the cancel option is no longer available, an eligible purchase made within the last 30 days may be returnable with a ticket. Accounts start with three tickets, receive one every 365 days, and can hold no more than three.
- Important exclusions: Epic lists passes, gifts, cosmetic bundles, and purchases in developer-made islands among the excluded purchase types. Returning a bundle means returning the entire bundle.
- Where to check: Use the in-game Return or Cancel Purchase flow or the web Item Shop’s return flow, and follow the current instructions shown there.
These rules concern the V-Bucks self-service process. Purchases made with real money or through a third-party platform follow separate refund routes and policies. Review Epic’s current return and cancellation instructions before relying on an option.
