A low price or a large discount percentage alone does not show that an offer is compatible, refundable, or from a seller you can trust.
Start with the official store and a wishlist
Check the platform’s own store for the game’s current price and sale terms. Wishlisting titles you genuinely plan to buy can make it easier to catch a price drop without relying on a predicted annual sale calendar.
- Steam: Steam says wishlists can notify you when a wishlisted game goes on sale. See its sales and purchasing FAQ for how sales and notifications work.
- Nintendo: Nintendo Support says discounts and sales are often available through Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Store. Its US support page also says Nintendo Store currently has no discount codes; that statement is limited to that store and page, not every retailer, region, or future date. Check Nintendo’s discount and coupon guidance.
Official listings give you a useful baseline price and make it easier to confirm which version and platform you are buying. They do not guarantee that every third-party offer is bad; they give you a reference for a like-for-like comparison.
Compare the same offer, not just the discount percentage
Before comparing prices, make sure both listings are for the product you actually want. A cheaper listing can be a different edition, a code for another launcher, or a region-restricted key that will not redeem on your account.

- Platform or launcher: Check whether the game is for Steam, another PC launcher, Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch. A PC key is not automatically redeemable on a console.
- Region: Confirm the code can be activated in your account’s country or region. Do not assume a listing with a lower price is globally redeemable.
- Edition and content: Compare the same edition and check whether DLC, expansions, or other included content differ.
- Total cost: Account for tax and any subscription required to use the offer. Compare the amount you will actually pay, not only a pre-tax headline price.
- Purchase type: Identify whether you are buying directly from a store or buying a code to redeem elsewhere. Check the redemption instructions before checkout.
For PC price comparisons, IsThereAnyDeal publishes an official FAQ. Use a comparison service as a way to find listings, not as proof that every seller or code is legitimate. Its current store coverage and console coverage are not established here, so verify the individual offer yourself.
Check who is selling the game and what happens if there is a problem
Look for a clearly identified seller, a support contact, and written purchase and return terms. Prefer an official storefront or a retailer whose authorization and customer-support route you can verify. Be cautious when the seller, redemption region, or refund path is unclear.

That is general guidance about PlayStation products, not a complete directory of authorized sellers of digital game codes. Read PlayStation’s US buying guide and confirm a particular seller’s status directly rather than inferring it from a discount listing.

Refund eligibility depends on the store and, in some cases, what you have already done with the purchase. Check the policy that applies to your account’s region before downloading, streaming, or playing.

Steam
Steam’s general refund rule is that you request within 14 days of purchase and have played for less than two hours. Valve says it may review requests that fall outside those conditions, but an exception is not guaranteed. See Steam’s Common Refund Questions for the current terms.
If an eligible Steam purchase drops in price after you buy it, Steam says you may request a refund and repurchase at the sale price. Steam also says it cannot apply a discount to a purchase made before or after the sale period; coupons or loyalty discounts generally do not stack unless otherwise stated. Check the Steam sales FAQ and your purchase’s eligibility before relying on this option.

PlayStation Store in the United States
For games and add-ons, PlayStation’s US policy generally allows a cancellation request within 14 days of purchase only if you have not started downloading or streaming the content. A downloaded or streamed game or add-on is generally ineligible unless it is faulty. The policy notes that local law may provide additional rights. Read the US PlayStation Store cancellation policy and its instructions for checking transaction history and requesting an eligible refund.
Nintendo and other stores
Refund rules vary by storefront and region. The Nintendo discount guidance cited above addresses sales and coupons, not refund eligibility, so check the policy for the specific Nintendo store and country where you are buying. Apply the same check to any other PC or console store before checkout.
