To find out whether a classic RPG is available on PS5, search its exact title in your local PlayStation Store, check the platform and edition labels, then look separately in the Classics Catalog if you want subscription access. “Available on PS5” can mean a native PS5 release, a PS4 version playable through backward compatibility, or access through a subscription catalog; those are different routes.
1. Search the exact game in your local PlayStation Store
Search for the complete game title and check the edition as well as the platform label. A PS5 listing indicates a PS5 version. A PS4 listing may also be playable on PS5 through backward compatibility, but a listing marked “Playable on: PS4 only” should not be treated as PS5-compatible. Use the [PlayStation Plus games finder](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-plus/games/) as another official place to search, but confirm the listing in your own Store.
PlayStation says game availability varies by country or region. A result shown on another country’s Store page, in a video, or on a third-party list does not establish that the game is available in your region.
2. Check the Classics Catalog if you want subscription access
- From the PS5 Games home screen, select PlayStation Plus.
- Open Benefits, then Classics Catalog.
- Search for the exact RPG and check whether its listing offers a download, streaming, or both.
- Confirm that your membership plan includes the catalog and that the title is still listed.
On PlayStation’s US plan page, Classics Catalog access is listed with Premium. Plan names and benefits may differ by market, and catalog lineups can change or have removal dates. Check the [Classics Catalog access guide](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/subscriptions/ps-plus-classics-catalog/) and [US plan information](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-plus/?gQT=1), then verify the title in the console’s local catalog.

Streaming requirements
For Classics Catalog streaming, PlayStation Support specifies a 5 Mbps minimum; for 1080p streaming it specifies 15 Mbps and a game that supports that resolution. These are the service requirements stated on PlayStation’s support page, not a guarantee that every catalog game can be streamed at 1080p. Check the current [Classics Catalog support page](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/subscriptions/ps-plus-classics-catalog/) for the applicable conditions.
3. Distinguish the version from the way you access it

4. Check the format before buying a used copy
PlayStation says PS5 supports the overwhelming majority of PS4 games, but PS3 game discs are not supported. A PS4 disc requires a PS5 model with a disc drive; PS4 discs cannot be used with PS5 Digital Edition. Before buying a used RPG disc, confirm that it is the PS4 version, your console has a disc drive, and the title is on PlayStation’s [PS4 backward-compatibility list](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/games/ps5-backward-compatibility-games/).

- Want to own a digital copy? Check the local Store’s edition and platform labels; do not assume a PS4 listing includes a PS5 edition or upgrade.
- Considering a subscription? Confirm the exact game in the Classics Catalog, the required plan, and whether your preferred play method—download or stream—is offered.
- Buying a disc? Check the game generation and console’s disc-drive hardware before purchasing.
