A missing quest marker in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be intentional, not a sign that the quest is broken. Some quests have no map marker, and others show or hide one as circumstances change. Prioritize the quest, review its instructions and requirements, then use pawn guidance or an in-game hint to work out what to do next.
Work through these checks in order
-
Prioritize the quest
Open Pause Menu > Quest and set the quest you are trying to complete as the priority. This focuses the quest in your list and is required to request a hint at the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine. Capcom’s support FAQ explains how to prioritize quests and get hints.
-
Read the current objective and earlier instructions
Check the quest’s current entry, then look back at its earlier instructions for prerequisites or clues about where to go. Reaching a marked location may not advance the quest until you have met its requirements. Capcom’s FAQ puts it plainly: “you must reach the location of the marker after you have met certain requirements for the quest.”
-
Look for pawn guidance
Check the quest list for pawn-help indicators. A blue marker refers to your Main Pawn; orange I and II markers refer to the first and second support pawns. A pawn may be able to lead you toward the objective or share useful information. If guidance is available, follow it rather than assuming the map will provide a precise route.

Revisit the relevant area after meeting the requirements
If the quest names or marks a location, return there once you have fulfilled its stated conditions. A marker may appear or disappear over time, and arriving before the required conditions are met may not trigger progress. Not every objective has a marker, so use the quest entry and pawn clues alongside the map.
-
Search for an NPC at different times
Quest NPCs can move between relevant locations or appear at particular times. If the objective depends on a person who is not where you expected, check the relevant locations at different times of day. If you believe the NPC has died, Capcom identifies the Vermund Charnel House and Battahl Morgue as places to check.
-
Pay for an in-game hint if you are still stuck
With the quest prioritized, visit the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine and pay for a hint. This is an optional way to get more direction in the game after the free checks above; it does not guarantee that every quest objective will be represented by a map marker.
Keep time-sensitive quests in mind
Some quests progress as time passes even when you are not actively working on them. The Capcom FAQ describes quests whose markers change over time, and the official manual warns that some quests can advance without your involvement. That does not mean every quest is timed, but juggling several quests can make it easier to miss a window. If a quest seems urgent, prioritize it and follow its current instructions rather than leaving it unattended while pursuing unrelated objectives.

There is no single route that works for every quest, and a blank map is not proof of a bug. Use the quest’s named locations, requirements, pawn guidance, NPC schedule clues, and paid hint as separate pieces of information. For directions beyond those in-game clues, a quest-specific walkthrough may help, but make sure it matches the quest’s current stage and prerequisites.
