In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, open the Stream tab in Live Control Room, then copy the key from Stream key. Paste it into your encoder’s Stream Key field and copy YouTube’s Stream URL into the encoder’s server or RTMP server field. The lookup is the same for a 24/7 stream as for any other encoder broadcast.
Find and copy the key in YouTube Studio

Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live to open Live Control Room.

Select the Stream tab.

Find the Stream key section. Reveal the key if it is hidden, then use the interface’s copy control. Do not try to reconstruct the key by typing it.

In your streaming encoder, open its stream or broadcast settings. Paste the copied value into Stream Key.

Copy YouTube’s Stream URL from Live Control Room into the encoder’s server, RTMP server, or equivalent address field. The key and URL are separate values; the encoder needs both.

Start the encoder and check Live Control Room for the incoming preview. For a scheduled stream, use its Live Control Room workflow and wait for the preview before selecting the control to go live.
YouTube describes a stream key as the credential that tells YouTube where an encoder should send its feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Check channel eligibility if Go Live is unavailable
If the channel has never livestreamed, activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; its help page also lists 16 as the minimum age to livestream. Check YouTube’s encoder livestream requirements and Get started with live streaming if the option is missing or access is blocked.

Reuse a custom key
YouTube allows a custom stream key to be created for reuse. This can save you from replacing the key in your encoder each time you prepare a new broadcast. Manage keys from Live Control Room’s Stream tab; see YouTube’s stream-settings instructions.

Select Reset and copy the newly generated key.

Replace the old key in every encoder or service that uses it, then reconnect. A reset invalidates the stored old value, so updating the encoder is essential.
YouTube says only a channel owner or manager can reset a key; editors and viewers cannot. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, stream overlays, chat, or a public repository. If someone else may have seen it, reset it rather than relying on secrecy afterward. See Manage live stream settings.
What changes for a 24/7 stream
The key lookup and encoder fields do not change just because the broadcast is intended to run continuously. What does need special attention is the archive: YouTube states, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That is not a promise that one continuous 24-hour broadcast will be archived in full. Plan how you will preserve recordings longer than 12 hours rather than assuming the entire broadcast will appear as a single archive. YouTube documents both software apps and standalone hardware encoders, but its cited guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation or recommend a particular product. Common problems and fixes

The key field is blank or hidden: Return to Live Control Room’s Stream tab and reveal or copy the key there. Do not substitute the Stream URL; the encoder needs both values in their respective fields.

The encoder will not connect after a reset: Replace its saved key with the newly generated one, then reconnect. The old key is no longer the correct credential.

You cannot reset the key: Check that you are signed in as the channel owner or a manager. Editors and viewers do not have reset permission.

Go Live or streaming access is unavailable: If this is the channel’s first livestream, allow up to 24 hours for activation. Also check channel verification, recent livestream restrictions, and YouTube’s minimum-age requirement.

The scheduled stream has no preview: Confirm the encoder has both the key and Stream URL, start the encoder, and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room before going live.

A long broadcast is missing or incomplete in archives: YouTube’s automatic-archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours. Do not assume a continuous 24/7 broadcast will be archived in full; arrange a separate way to retain longer recordings.
