If your DualSense won’t connect to a PS5, connect it to the console with the supplied USB cable and press the PS button. If that fails, reset the controller using the small button on its back, then reconnect it by USB. For a PC, phone, or other supported Bluetooth device, use Create + PS to enter pairing mode. Follow the steps for the device you’re connecting to; the pairing methods differ.
Reconnect a DualSense to a PS5
- Turn on the PS5 and connect the controller to it with the USB cable supplied with the controller.
- Press the PS button. Sony describes this cable connection as the pairing step. Once the controller has enough charge, you can unplug it and use it wirelessly.
If this does not work, try Sony’s reset procedure.
Reset the controller and pair it again
- Turn off the PS5 and disconnect the controller from its USB cable.
- Locate the small reset hole on the back of the controller near the Sony logo.
- Use a pin or similar tool to press and hold the recessed reset button for at least five seconds.
- Reconnect the controller to the PS5 with the supplied USB cable and press the PS button.
Sony says this reset does not affect pairing settings. It is a troubleshooting step, not a guarantee that every connection problem will be fixed.
Pair the DualSense with a PC, phone, or other supported Bluetooth device
- Make sure the controller is off. If its player indicator is lit, hold the PS button until the controller turns off.
- Disconnect any USB cable.
- Hold the Create button, then hold the PS button until the light bar blinks.
- On the device you want to connect, turn on Bluetooth and select the controller from the Bluetooth device list.
The light bar blinks during pairing; when pairing completes, the player indicator lights. Sony’s PC instructions say the controller can be paired with one device at a time, so pair it again when you switch to another device.

Check software and game support
Keep the PS5 system software current. Sony says DualSense device software updates are added through PS5 system software updates. To check for a controller update manually, open Settings > Accessories > Controller (General) > DualSense Wireless Controller Device Software.
A successful Bluetooth connection does not mean every PC game supports every controller feature. Sony advises checking the game’s Steam store page for its Full or Partial Controller Support designation. Some PC features, including haptics, may require a USB connection. When to contact PlayStation Repairs
If the correct connection steps and reset do not resolve the problem, use PlayStation Repairs. Connection symptoms alone do not identify a specific hardware fault, so avoid assuming which component has failed without a diagnosis.
