How to Fix a Fortnite Sidekick That Won’t Appear or Equip

Check Locker → Sidekicks to equip an owned Fortnite Sidekick. If it is missing, verify the Epic account and grant conditions, clear Locker filters, and check Archived items.

To equip an owned Sidekick, open Locker → Sidekicks and select it. If it is missing, first confirm you are signed in to the Epic account that earned or purchased it, then clear Locker filters and check Archived items. Sidekick quests are separate: find them in Quests under the paw-shaped Sidekicks section.

Equip an owned Sidekick from the Locker

  1. Open Locker.
  2. Choose Sidekicks.
  3. Select the Sidekick you want to use.

Epic identifies the Locker’s Sidekicks section as the place to find and customize Sidekicks. Customization is optional for equipping; Epic’s instructions do not say you need to customize one to use it. Some Sidekicks do not support customization. If you do customize a supported Sidekick, its appearance choice becomes permanent once you lock it in. Epic’s Sidekick guide explains the Locker and customization options.

If the Sidekick is missing from your Locker

Confirm the Epic account and how you earned it

Check that Fortnite is using the Epic account that received or purchased the Sidekick. If it came from a promotion, review that offer’s specific eligibility and linked-account requirements; owning the qualifying item on a different account may not grant the cosmetic to the account you are currently using.

For example, Epic’s Super Meat Boy 3D offer requires the qualifying purchase and Fortnite account to match, and connected console accounts must be linked to that Epic account. Refunding the qualifying game purchase removes a Sidekick granted through that offer. Those terms apply to this promotion, not automatically to every Sidekick.

Fortnite eGift Card
  • Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
  • Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
  • If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
  • Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
  • Redemption: Online

Search the Locker without filters and check Archived items

Clear any active Locker filters, then look again under Sidekicks. Also inspect Archived items. Epic’s general missing-item guidance recommends checking the account used for a purchase, reviewing the receipt, clearing filters, and looking in Archived. These are sensible checks for a missing Sidekick, not a guaranteed Sidekick-specific repair.

Allow time only when the Sidekick’s guidance says its grant may be delayed

Epic has documented a delay for Bonesy: its support page says the Sidekick may take time to appear and identifies a November 7 grant for owners of the Bonesy Back Bling. In its October 30, 2025 introduction, Epic likewise says, “It may take a bit for you to see it in your Locker,” specifically in the Bonesy grant context. Bonesy support guidance does not establish that every Sidekick grant has the same delay or schedule.

Find Sidekick quests separately

  1. Open Quests.
  2. Select the paw-shaped Sidekicks section.
  3. Choose the relevant Sidekick to view its available quests.

A Sidekick whose quests are all complete may no longer appear in that quest list. That alone does not mean the cosmetic is missing from your Locker. When quests remain, the Locker menu may also offer a Go to Quest option. Epic’s Sidekick introduction describes this quest navigation.

When to contact Epic Player Support

If the account, entitlement, Locker search, and any documented grant timing do not explain the problem, contact Epic Player Support. Include the Sidekick’s name, platform, Epic account you are using, and—when relevant—the date or proof of the purchase or other qualifying entitlement. Epic’s published guidance does not establish one universal fix for every Sidekick equip failure.
