Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your YouTube livestream ends when an MP4 reaches its final frame, make the playback source continue: enable repeat, queue another video, or add suitable filler. Then check whether the encoder stopped sending and whether the stream’s auto-stop option is enabled. A network failure is a separate possibility, especially when the stream ends at inconsistent times.
Why a YouTube livestream can stop at the end of an MP4
An MP4 is finite. When playback reaches its end, the source may stop producing video; if the encoder consequently stops sending content, YouTube can end the stream. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe ending a stream by stopping the content sent from the encoder. The exact end-of-file behavior depends on the playback and encoder software; YouTube’s guidance does not specify how a particular third-party app handles it. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
Also check Live Control Room’s auto-stop option. YouTube describes it as an option that lets the encoder stop the stream when it stops streaming, and notes that reused stream settings carry selections forward. Manage live stream settings
Keep the video source running
- Open the playback source or playlist in your encoder. Find its repeat/loop control and enable it, or arrange a next item so playback continues after the MP4 ends. The precise control and menu path depend on the software you use; YouTube’s cited instructions do not define app-specific steps.
- Plan what viewers see between or after videos. If the playlist may run out, add another intended video or a suitable slate/filler. Do not rely on an empty source to keep a live feed active.
- Check the encoder output. Confirm that the encoder remains connected and is still sending content to YouTube after the file reaches its endpoint. YouTube’s setup workflow uses the stream URL and stream key in the encoder, then starts the encoder to send the feed. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- Inspect auto-start and auto-stop in Live Control Room. Verify the options for this stream rather than assuming end-of-file behavior will be harmless. If you want to control going live manually from Live Control Room, confirm the relevant setting is configured for that workflow. Reused stream settings may preserve earlier selections. Manage live stream settings
- Preview and monitor before relying on the stream. Check the preview, audio and video quality, and whether the stream is accessible from the channel and watch pages. If you record a local archive, YouTube also recommends checking that the file continues to grow. YouTube live streaming tips · Streaming tips
Use the timing of the failure to narrow it down
| What you observe | Likely area | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| The stream stops at the same point each time, when the MP4 ends | Playback or playlist exhaustion | Enable repeat or queue another item. Check whether the encoder continues sending a feed beyond the file endpoint. This is a diagnostic inference from YouTube’s documented encoder lifecycle. |
| The encoder stops and the YouTube stream ends together | Encoder output or auto-stop | Check the encoder’s end-of-file behavior and the stream’s auto-stop option in Live Control Room. YouTube Help |
| The stream fails at varying times, unrelated to the video length | Network or encoder stability | Review stream health, upload capacity, encoder settings, and local archive growth. YouTube notes that network disruption can break a stream. YouTube live streaming tips · Streaming tips |
| YouTube still says the stream is live, but viewers see a frozen or blank image | Playback source or encoder scene | Inspect the preview and encoder output. The cited YouTube guidance does not provide app-specific scene-recovery instructions. |
Rule out connection and encoder issues
If the stream stops before the MP4 ends, or the failure time changes from one attempt to another, investigate the connection and encoder separately from looping. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. It also recommends a keyframe frequency of 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. These are general stream-quality recommendations, not fixes for a playlist that reaches its end. Streaming tips · Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Check the encoder’s stream-health messages and confirm it is still connected to YouTube.
- Make sure the connection has upload capacity beyond the encoder’s stream bitrate; leave the recommended headroom.
- Preview the feed and monitor audio and video instead of relying only on a “live” status indicator.
- For HLS ingest, follow YouTube’s separate setup requirements; those instructions are for HLS streams and do not replace source looping. Set up an HLS stream
Check what happens to the recording
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That threshold is not evidence that a longer stream will be preserved as one archive, so do not treat an archive as a guaranteed backup for a longer continuous broadcast. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
