Check the sending host’s sustained upload capacity, bitrate and keyframe settings, and the YouTube destination and stream key. An India-based cloud service is not, by itself, evidence that India is causing the problem.
First identify what is sending the loop
The fix depends on whether you operate the encoder or use a managed loop service:
- Self-managed OBS or FFmpeg on a cloud VM: You control the encoder, logs, configuration and—depending on your cloud provider—some network diagnostics.
- Managed service that loops uploaded videos: The service controls its encoder and outbound route. Use its status information and support rather than changing settings on your home router, which may not be in the stream path.
Keep the two goals separate: maintaining a live broadcast and keeping a recoverable recording are not the same thing.
Diagnose the interruption before changing settings
- Record the exact time of each interruption and capture the complete stream-health message in YouTube Live Control Room. Messages can point to high or low bitrate, long keyframes, a codec or frame-rate mismatch, or too little incoming video. See Google’s YouTube Live stream-health messages.
- At the same timestamps, check the cloud VM’s events and the encoder log, or the managed service’s status and logs. Look for whether the encoder stopped, the connection failed, or YouTube reported an input problem.
- For a self-managed encoder, measure sustained outbound capacity from the cloud host that sends the stream. A home internet speed test, or a download-speed result, does not establish the VM’s outbound capacity.
- Change one variable at a time. After each change, compare the next run’s dropped-frame count, logs and YouTube health status so you can tell what helped.
OBS describes dropped frames as a sign that the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot keep up with the selected bitrate. That points to a connection or capacity problem; it does not, on its own, identify YouTube, OBS, India or a particular provider as the cause. OBS Project, Stream Connection Troubleshooting (2024-09-30).

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Match the bitrate to the cloud host’s connection
YouTube says the total stream bitrate must fit the available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Count both the primary and backup streams if your setup sends both. This is a capacity guideline, not a guarantee that a particular route will remain stable. YouTube Help, Streaming tips.
OBS suggests 75% of total upload speed as a starting point for bitrate troubleshooting. Treat that as a diagnostic starting point, not a YouTube requirement or a promise of stability; the bitrate also needs to respect the streaming service’s limits. OBS Project, Stream Connection Troubleshooting (2024-09-30).

YouTube’s published encoder recommendations include these examples. They are encoder targets, not India-specific network thresholds; the sending host still needs enough sustained outbound capacity to deliver them.
| Output | AV1 or H.265 recommended bitrate | H.264 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions for the relevant output and codec. If the stream is dropping frames, lower bitrate first and observe the result; if needed, reduce resolution or frame rate in a separate test.

Verify the destination, RTMPS connection and stream key
For a custom encoder or API integration, verify the full YouTube RTMPS destination and application path, not just that the host name looks familiar. The connection must use TLS to port 443, with the correct server name sent through SNI. Google warns that a client can time out if it sends cleartext RTMP to a YouTube server expecting RTMPS. Follow Google’s RTMPS ingestion guide, updated 2026-09-14.
- Confirm the configured destination uses RTMPS, not cleartext RTMP, when the endpoint expects RTMPS.
- Check the hostname, application path, TLS connection and port 443 in the custom client configuration.
- Verify the stream key separately. Keep it private: do not include it in screenshots, public logs or support posts.
Isolate the network route and encoder
If you control OBS on the cloud VM, compare its logs and outbound measurements with YouTube’s health message. OBS recommends trying another server when available, reducing video bitrate and checking whether the problem is specific to the streaming service. Its troubleshooting guide also identifies VPNs, security tools, network-optimizer software, outdated drivers, Wi-Fi instability and network hardware as possible causes in setups where those components are involved.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Some OBS suggestions are Windows-only: network optimizations or TCP pacing, binding to the default IP, testing IPv4-only, and dynamic bitrate adjustment. Dynamic bitrate can reduce dropped frames by lowering quality when the connection struggles; it does not repair the underlying route or capacity problem. Apply these only if you control a compatible OBS host, not to a managed service whose encoder you cannot configure. See OBS’s troubleshooting guidance.
If repeated tests point to one cloud route or provider, compare another ingest server or provider using the same stream settings and record the results. Treat India’s location as a clue to test a route, not a diagnosis: the cited YouTube and OBS guidance describes general network, endpoint and encoder causes, not an India-specific cause of disconnections.

Keep an archive for long broadcasts
A live stream staying online does not ensure YouTube will preserve its archive. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all and recommends keeping a local archive as backup. Its streaming tips also advise checking that the local archive file is growing and verifying its integrity. See YouTube Help on archiving live streams and YouTube’s streaming tips.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is looping uploaded recordings rather than diagnosing a self-managed OBS or VPS route, StreamNeo is a managed YouTube loop-stream option: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Its product page says it loops the uploads in the cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream; this is a vendor-described feature, not an independent uptime guarantee.
- Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
- Uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
