How to Fix Audio and Video Delay in XSplit Broadcaster

Identify which XSplit signals are out of sync, use the matching source Offset or audio-device Delay, and verify your correction in a local recording.

To fix audio and video delay in XSplit Broadcaster, first identify which two signals are out of sync and which one arrives early. Then adjust the relevant source’s Offset (ms) or the audio device’s Delay, and confirm the change in a local recording. There is no universal delay value: capture hardware and source setup affect the amount.

Diagnose the mismatch before changing a setting

Decide which pair of signals is out of sync—for example, your microphone and webcam, a capture card’s picture and audio, or game sound and captured video. Note whether the audio or picture leads. Also identify how the audio entered XSplit: it may be attached to a Camera/Capture Card source, added as a separate audio source, or captured through XSplit’s Audio settings.

Test a local recording rather than relying only on what you hear while monitoring. Monitoring and the stream or recording can behave differently, particularly if a source’s routing is set differently. Headphones can help you listen to the final mix, but they do not correct source timing.

Choose the right XSplit sync control

Where the audio comes from Control to inspect What to check
Separate audio source Source properties: Offset (ms) Use the offset to synchronize the audio source with camera sources. Check whether audio is routed as Stream Only or System Sound if monitoring and stream audio differ.
Audio attached to a Camera/Capture Card source Camera/Capture Card source properties: Offset (ms) Use the source offset to correct timing between the camera video and its audio. Device-specific controls vary.
Microphone or system sound captured through XSplit Audio settings Audio settings: device Delay Enable and adjust Delay when the captured audio needs to arrive later. Confirm the intended device is selected.

Labels and locations can vary by XSplit version. The official pages document these controls, but do not specify a setting that works for every setup.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Adjust a source offset or capture delay

  1. For a separate audio source: open that source’s properties and adjust Offset (ms) to bring it into sync with the camera sources. Check the source’s Stream Only versus System Sound routing if the recording or stream differs from what you hear in monitoring.
  2. For audio belonging to a Camera/Capture Card source: open the source’s properties and inspect Offset (ms). Adjust it to align the camera video and audio; available device settings depend on the hardware.
  3. For system sound or a microphone captured through Audio settings: select the intended device and enable its Delay control if that audio needs to be captured later.
  4. Make a short local recording, review the affected signals together, and adjust in small increments. Keep the changes that align the recorded output in your setup.

Use the source-level Offset when synchronizing a source, and Audio settings Delay when delayed capture is needed for a microphone or system-sound device. Avoid changing multiple timing controls at once; otherwise, it becomes harder to tell which adjustment helped.

Measure capture-card latency instead of guessing

A capture card can add latency, but the amount depends on the hardware and configuration. Check the manufacturer’s documentation or measure the difference in your own setup. XSplit’s company-authored 2016 guide to setting video and audio delays on camera sources describes comparing a live feed with the capture-card feed and converting the observed difference to milliseconds. Its interface directions may be dated, so use current XSplit controls for the actual adjustment.

Apply the measured compensation to the source that needs it, then record and review again. Do not copy another creator’s offset: it may reflect different equipment or routing.

A camera’s picture and its own audio do not match

Check the Camera/Capture Card source’s Offset (ms) and confirm that the intended audio input is selected. The available options vary by device.

A separate microphone is out of sync with camera video

If the microphone was added as a separate audio source, inspect that source’s Offset (ms). If XSplit captures it through Audio settings, check the microphone’s device selection and Delay instead.

Game or system sound is late relative to captured video

Check the system-sound device’s Delay in Audio settings and confirm that audio is routed as intended. If monitoring and the recorded or streamed sound differ, inspect the separate source’s Stream Only versus System Sound routing too.

The sync changes over time, or stuttering appears

Check which Windows audio devices XSplit has selected, and whether CPU or GPU load is affecting performance. XSplit identifies resource limits as a possible cause of poor frame rate or stuttering; that does not establish that resource load explains every sync problem. If the mismatch varies, gather another local recording before making further timing changes.

The capture device is unavailable, not just delayed

Close other applications that may be using the device, refresh the source, and reconnect the hardware. These are device-availability steps, not synchronization adjustments.
