These are the game’s store-listed requirements, not a guarantee that every system meeting them will run without issues. Steam separately says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024; that client notice is distinct from the game’s listed minimum operating-system requirement. - Compare your PC’s processor, memory, graphics card, and free storage with the published requirements.
- Write down the exact error text or the steps that reliably trigger the problem before trying symptom-specific checks.
Test frame-rate settings for PC performance problems
For Windows PC, 2K’s announcement of its PC patch says, “This patch includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options on PC.” The options are in the game’s video/display menu. If you are investigating stuttering or unstable performance, compare a lower frame-rate cap with a higher one, changing only that setting between tests and noting what changes. Try the Steam Overlay workaround only for input switching
If a Windows PC gamepad and keyboard/mouse are switching incorrectly, an older 2K support article recommends turning off the Steam Overlay before launching the game. Treat this as a narrow, reversible diagnostic, not as a fix for controller failures generally or for other symptoms:
- In Steam, open the game’s properties and turn off the Steam Overlay for the game.
- Launch the game and check whether the device-switching behavior changes.
- If it makes no difference, restore the Overlay setting.

2K announced a Mafia III: Definitive Edition patch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 18, 2020, and directed players with issues to 2K Support. The available announcement does not provide a complete change list, so it does not establish that the patch fixes any particular crash, stutter, visual problem, or progression bug. Steam’s technical-issues page also points to official 2K support and community-created guides; community guides may offer leads, but their presence does not make a fix official or universal. When contacting support, include your platform and storefront, system details if you are on PC, the exact steps that reproduce the problem, and any error message. For a mission progression issue, identify the mission and the point where progress stops; for a crash, say whether it occurs at launch or during a repeatable action.
