A 4K60 stream needs a high, steady upload bitrate; if your connection cannot sustain the target, reduce bitrate or output quality and test again. The available guidance does not establish that BSNL is at fault—or what any particular BSNL line can deliver—so measure your connection before changing plans or buying equipment.
1. Identify what YouTube is reporting
Open YouTube Live Control Room and check the stream-health status and any specific warning. Note whether the issue is described as dropped frames, unstable bitrate, or an encoder configuration problem. YouTube groups configuration warnings around settings such as bitrate, frame rate, codec, and keyframe frequency; a warning about one of these is not, by itself, proof of a broadband fault. YouTube’s stream-health troubleshooting guidance explains the warning categories.
Record the time and the exact message. You will be able to compare it with upload tests and encoder settings instead of guessing from the symptom alone.
2. Check your encoder settings for 4K60
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1, supports frame rates up to 60 fps, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval. Do not set keyframes farther apart than four seconds. RTMP and RTMPS are listed protocols; use RTMPS when your encoder supports it. See YouTube’s live encoder settings for the current guidance.

These figures are recommended encoder video bitrates, not a promise that a broadband plan or individual line can sustain them. Audio also uses bandwidth, and a stream needs stable headroom rather than a momentary peak. Match the encoder’s output to the connection you can reliably maintain; YouTube recommends testing before going live.
3. Test upload performance under broadcast-like conditions
- Use the same connection you will stream on. YouTube recommends running a speed test to test upload bitrate. A short speed test is useful evidence, but it does not by itself prove the connection can sustain a live stream without fluctuation.
- Make the test representative. Test, if possible, at the time you normally broadcast and with household upload activity similar to the live session. Include representative audio and motion when testing the stream, since a static or unusually quiet test may not reflect the real broadcast.
- Compare wired and Wi-Fi if practical. Try Ethernet as a diagnostic comparison with your current Wi-Fi connection. A wired test can help isolate local Wi-Fi as a factor, but it cannot establish or fix a problem with the broadband line, congestion, or ISP capacity.
- Watch stream health during the test. Keep YouTube’s stream-health messages visible and note whether the same warning returns, alongside the measured upload results and encoder bitrate.
4. Lower the target if the connection cannot sustain it
If a representative test shows that upload performance cannot reliably sustain the selected bitrate, lower the video bitrate and retest. If that is not enough, try a lower output resolution or frame rate, then test again. Keep the settings consistent with YouTube’s encoder guidance and use the stream-health status to judge the result. There is no universal fallback setting for a BSNL subscriber: the workable target depends on the measured performance of the connection at the location and time of the stream.

The practical trade-off is codec versus required upload bitrate: YouTube recommends 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265 at 4K60 and 50 Mbps for H.264. The other trade-off is 4K60 versus connection reliability. Keep 4K60 only if your tests show that the connection can reliably support the chosen output; otherwise, a lower target is the sensible test.
5. When to contact BSNL support
If tests remain unstable over Ethernet after confirming the encoder configuration, collect evidence before contacting BSNL: the times of the tests, measured upload results, encoder bitrate, whether the test was wired or Wi-Fi, and YouTube’s exact stream-health messages. This helps distinguish a local wireless issue from an issue that may need investigation on the broadband service. No particular BSNL plan, local line speed, or BSNL-specific support procedure is established here; those depend on your service and location.
