Test over Ethernet, lower the bitrate until the counter stops rising, and compare OBS with YouTube’s stream-health messages. A looped video still needs a stable, continuous upload; looping does not remove the network requirement.
First, confirm which OBS problem you have
Open OBS’s Stats panel or watch its status bar while the problem occurs. The network dropped-frame counter points to delivery between your computer and YouTube. OBS describes dropped frames as a connection that is not stable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate, and says this kind of drop is extremely unlikely to be caused by OBS itself.
Do not confuse that counter with rendering lag or encoder overload. Those are different symptoms and may need different fixes. This guide applies when the network dropped frames figure is rising.
Test the stream under realistic conditions
Before relying on a continuous loop, run a test with audio and movement similar to the intended stream. Monitor both OBS and YouTube’s stream health and messages, and note the time, connection type, bitrate, and whether the drops are steady or appear at particular hours. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and checking stream health; a single speed-test result cannot establish that an upload will remain stable for a continuous stream.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Record the dropped-frame percentage or counter at the start and end of the test.
- Check YouTube’s stream-health messages at the same time.
- Repeat at the hours when the issue usually occurs; results at another time may not reflect congestion or route conditions then.
Remove Wi-Fi as a cause
Connect the streaming computer directly to the router with Ethernet if practical. OBS recommends a wired connection when Wi-Fi may be unstable. Restart the modem and router, and check that the cable is firmly seated and undamaged. If a known-good spare cable or router is available, use it as an isolation test; buying replacement hardware is not a first step unless testing points to a fault.
Repeat the same kind of test stream and compare the OBS counter and YouTube health. If Ethernet helps, the Wi-Fi link or its local conditions were contributing; it does not by itself identify a particular faulty device.

Lower the bitrate to fit stable upload capacity
A speed test measures performance at one moment and may not represent a single continuous streaming connection. OBS offers 75% of total upload speed as a starting heuristic, not a guarantee. Reduce the OBS video bitrate in steps, then observe whether network drops stop during a comparable test. Leave room for upload variation and other devices using the connection.
YouTube’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, recommends these H.264 rates:

| YouTube output | Recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
These are encoder recommendations, not a claim about BSNL upload speeds or a guarantee that a particular line can sustain them. Use a bitrate that the connection holds reliably, even if that means choosing a lower resolution or frame rate. Keep the codec, resolution, and frame rate in mind when comparing your settings with YouTube’s recommendations.

- In OBS, open Settings and go to Advanced. Leave Bind to IP at Default.
- Temporarily choose IPv4 Only for the IP-family option, apply the setting, and run a comparable stream test.
- If IPv4 Only does not help, restore the default IPv4/IPv6 setting rather than leaving a change that made no difference.
- On Windows, test Enable network optimizations and TCP pacing if those options are available in your OBS version. Compare the results under otherwise unchanged conditions.
- If the underlying connection problem cannot be fixed, test OBS dynamic bitrate as a fallback. It can reduce drops by lowering bitrate during congestion, but image quality may fall and it does not repair the connection fault.
Check VPNs, software, drivers, and the YouTube route
- Temporarily test without a VPN. If the result changes, the VPN path may be contributing; do not assume that it proves a fault by itself.
- Check whether security software or bundled network-priority or “optimization” utilities interfere. Re-enable security protection after testing; add an OBS exception only if the test identifies that software as the cause.
- Update the network adapter driver from the computer or motherboard manufacturer.
- If OBS lets you choose another YouTube ingest/server option, compare it with the current choice while keeping the other settings the same. A different result can help narrow down the route, but is not proof of who is at fault.
When to contact BSNL
If drops continue over Ethernet at a reduced bitrate, the issue may be beyond your computer or home Wi-Fi, such as line instability, ISP congestion, or routing. The available evidence does not establish your BSNL plan’s upload rate, access technology, neighborhood conditions, or route to YouTube, so do not assume that BSNL is throttling the stream or that a plan upgrade is necessary.
Give BSNL useful evidence rather than only reporting that “OBS buffers”:
