If ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist crashes on PC, first update your graphics driver, then test the game’s developer-documented Steam launch options, -dx11 and -vulkan, one at a time. They are possible workarounds, not guaranteed fixes: the developer says those renderer modes were not internally tested and may produce visual differences. The right next step depends on when the crash happens and your hardware; no single fix is established for every PC crash.
Start by identifying when the crash happens
Before changing settings, note whether the game closes before launch, during loading or shader compilation, at a particular scene, or after extended play. Record the full error message and the game version shown in Steam. Community posts include reports of startup crashes and fatal errors, but these dated player reports do not establish a shared cause.

Keep track of each change and test result. That makes it easier to tell whether a launch option helped and gives support staff useful details if the crash continues.
Check the PC requirements and update your graphics driver
Steam lists the following requirements for the PC version. They are published specifications, not a promise that a system meeting them will be crash-free.
#1 Best Overall
- Based on the epic movie and classic novel
- Two rivals square off to see who has the best strategy
- Play as Ender Wiggin or Bonzo Madrid
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Not stated in the Steam listing |
| Processor | Dual-core 2.50 GHz | Quad-core 3.00 GHz |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics memory | 2 GB VRAM | 4 GB VRAM |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Not stated in the Steam listing |
| Storage | 5 GB available space | Not stated in the Steam listing |
| Display | Not stated as a minimum | 16:9 recommended |

Test DirectX 11 or Vulkan launch options in Steam
The developer suggests trying DirectX 11 or Vulkan if technical issues persist. Use only one option at a time so you can tell whether it changes the result.
- In your Steam Library, right-click ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist and select Properties.
- On the General page, find Launch Options and enter
-dx11. - Launch the game and check whether it opens and whether the original crash happens again. Also note any visual differences.
- If the crash remains, return to Launch Options, remove
-dx11, and enter-vulkan. Test again. - To return to the default renderer, clear the launch option.
Neither alternative renderer is internally tested by the developer. In its Steam technical-support discussion, developer account skinoshita wrote: “The game is not internally tested with Vulkan or DirectX11, so there might be some visual discrepancy.” The discussion was last edited March 31, 2024. Treat these modes as experiments for your own setup, not as a ranking: the available guidance does not establish that either is generally more stable.
| Launch option | What to check on your PC |
|---|---|
-dx11 |
Does the game launch? Does the original crash recur? Are there visual differences? |
-vulkan |

If the issue is a map-completion display problem, check version 1.0.3
Patch 1.0.3, dated January 27, 2025, addressed a specific graphics issue: on some GPUs, map completion was not rendered properly. Its notes acknowledge that GPU testing was limited and suggest trying -dx11 or -vulkan if that problem persists. This is a version-specific fix for map-completion rendering; it does not establish that all PC crashes were fixed.
See the 1.0.3 patch notes for the update details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. For certain Intel CPUs, keep the advice narrow
The developer’s March 2024 technical-support post describes crashes reported on some 13th- and 14th-generation Intel Core i9 and i7 CPUs when the processor becomes too busy—for example, during loading, shader compilation, or when the frame rate is not capped. The post said no perfect solution was known at the time.
It relayed possible mitigations, not guaranteed fixes: returning an overclocked CPU to its default settings, or lowering the Performance Core Ratio with Intel XTU. This is dated, scenario-specific guidance; it should not be treated as a general fix for other hardware or as a current universal solution. Avoid changing CPU settings unless you understand how to restore them.

Report a repeatable crash with useful details
If the same crash keeps happening, use the developer’s Steam technical-support discussion or its bug-report route, or open Steam’s technical issue help page for ENDER MAGNOLIA. Include enough detail to distinguish a startup failure from a renderer, hardware, or scene-specific problem:
- Windows version and the game version shown in Steam
- CPU and GPU models, plus graphics-driver version
- When the crash occurs and the complete error text
- Whether you tested
-dx11or-vulkan, and what happened with each - Other steps already tried
The developer’s technical-support post notes that save backups are stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%EnderMagnoliaSavedSaveGames and recommends backing up that folder before replacing a save. Do not delete or replace save data as a crash fix without first preserving a backup. The Steam bug-report thread is at Thread for Bug Report.
