PS5 error NP-104627-0 means the console lost connection to a server. Sony’s guidance is to sign in again, test the console’s internet connection, restart the router and PS5, then try Ethernet or improve the Wi-Fi signal. First check whether PlayStation Network is having an outage. The code alone does not show that your console is broken, your game is corrupted, or your internet service is down.
What NP-104627-0 means
Sony defines NP-104627-0 as a lost connection to the server. The server could be part of PlayStation Network or a game’s own online service, depending on where the error appears. Sony does not identify one underlying cause or promise a single fix. See Sony’s NP-104627-0 support page.
The code is not, by itself, proof of a hardware fault, a Wi-Fi-only problem, a PSN outage, corrupted game files, or a cloud-save failure. Note what you were doing when it appeared: signing in, opening a PSN feature, entering multiplayer, loading online content, or launching one particular game. That context helps narrow down which connection to investigate.
Check PlayStation Network status first
Before changing settings, check the PlayStation Network status page. If Sony lists an outage or service alert, wait for it to clear and try again. Resetting the console or deleting data will not fix a server-side interruption. Status can change, so check the page when the error occurs rather than assuming PSN is either up or down.

Try Sony’s troubleshooting steps in order
- Sign in again. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Sign In. If you cannot sign in, check PSN status and confirm your account credentials instead of repeating unrelated repairs.
- Run the connection test. Go to Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection. Note which result fails, such as obtaining an IP address, internet connection, or PSN sign-in. A successful test is useful, but it does not guarantee that every game or PlayStation server is reachable.
- Restart your router. Turn it off, wait five minutes, then turn it back on. If you use a combined modem/router, gateway, or mesh system, follow your provider’s instructions for restarting that equipment. This briefly disconnects other devices in your home.
- Restart the PS5. Once the network equipment is back online, restart the console and retry the same feature or game.
- Test with Ethernet if possible. A wired connection can help distinguish a Wi-Fi problem from a broader server or account issue. If Ethernet works while Wi-Fi does not, investigate signal strength, interference, or router and access-point settings. Ethernet will not fix a PSN or game-server outage.
- Improve Wi-Fi conditions. Move the PS5 closer to the router and reduce obstructions or sources of interference between them. If you recently changed routers, providers, or network settings, check that the console is using the correct network and password.
These steps follow Sony’s official troubleshooting guidance. Menu wording can vary slightly by region or system software version.
If the error appears in only one game
If you can use other PSN features and play other online games, but one game still shows NP-104627-0, check that game’s publisher service status, maintenance notices, and account-linking requirements. Make sure the game is updated, then restart it and the PS5. This pattern points your investigation toward that game’s online service, but it does not prove the game installation is damaged.

A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
If several games and PSN features fail, focus instead on the PS5 connection, account session, network equipment, or a broader service issue. If the error appears after waking the console from Rest Mode, a full console restart is a sensible low-risk test; reports linking Rest Mode to this code are anecdotal, not a confirmed Sony diagnosis.
When the basic steps do not work
If the PSN status page is clear but the problem continues, compare results rather than repeating the same reset:

- Does the PS5 connection test fail, and at which step?
- Does the error affect one game, every online game, or PSN features too?
- Does Ethernet work when Wi-Fi does not?
- Are other devices online, and does the PS5 behave differently on another network, if one is available?
- Does the issue affect other accounts on the same console?
A phone or laptop working normally does not rule out a PS5-specific connection issue. If both Ethernet and Wi-Fi fail while other devices work, possible causes include an account/session issue, router or ISP filtering, network configuration, regional routing, or console software. The test results can help PlayStation Support distinguish among them.
Fixes not to try first
Sony’s guidance for this code does not call for changing DNS servers, rebuilding the database, reinstalling a game, deleting saved data, or factory-resetting the PS5. Those steps are not established fixes for NP-104627-0. In particular, a factory reset is disruptive and may remove local content or settings without resolving a server, account, or network problem. Do not delete saves to troubleshoot this error.

Safe Mode options such as clearing cache or rebuilding the database may be relevant to other console problems, but Sony does not identify them as a specific remedy for this code. If you are considering broader console troubleshooting, first complete the connection checks and protect important data; choose Safe Mode options carefully because they do different things.

- Whether it occurs in one game or across multiple games and PSN features.
- Whether you use Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and whether switching connection type changed the result.
- The PS5 internet-test results and what happened after restarting the router and console.
- Whether testing another network changed the result.
- Your console model, account region, or system software version if support asks for them.
