1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThere is no single FFmpeg flag that reliably fixes audio cutting out in a 24/7 Tamil music stream. First identify where the silence starts: in a source file, at a playlist transition, during FFmpeg input or encoding, on the connection to YouTube, or in YouTube’s ingestion. Then use the evidence from the media, FFmpeg logs and YouTube Live Control Room to choose a targeted fix.
Find the point where the audio disappears
A brief silence can originate at several different layers, and each calls for a different remedy. A YouTube warning can point to an ingestion or configuration problem, but it does not by itself prove the original music file is faulty. Start by comparing what you hear in the source with what reaches the live stream.
- Source media: Play the affected file locally and listen around the exact dropout. If silence is already present, replace or repair the file.
- Playlist or song transition: Note whether gaps occur only when one song ends and another begins. Inspect the playlist assembly and check that files have usable, consistent audio streams.
- FFmpeg input or decoding: Look for input read failures, decode warnings and timestamp issues around the dropout.
- Encoding or stream mapping: Check whether FFmpeg is sending the intended audio stream and whether its codec, sample rate, channel count and bitrate match the output you intend.
- Output connection or YouTube ingestion: Check FFmpeg output errors and YouTube’s stream-health messages. A video ingestion warning can indicate inadequate incoming video, not necessarily an audio-specific fault.
When possible, monitor or record the encoded output locally as well as checking the live stream. If the local encoded output has the same gap, the problem is likely before YouTube ingestion; if it is clean, investigate the output connection and YouTube health information.
Collect evidence before changing settings
Capture one dropout from start to finish. Changing multiple flags at once makes it harder to tell which layer was responsible.

- Record the exact dropout time. Use the same clock reference when comparing local playback, FFmpeg stderr and YouTube’s health panel.
- Save the full FFmpeg command and version. Run
ffmpeg -versionand keep the complete output, including build details. - Capture timestamped stderr. Preserve messages before, during and after the gap, especially input read errors, decode warnings, timestamp problems, output write failures and process restarts.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. Read the stream-health messages at the same time. If you use the Live Streaming API, inspect its health-status issues too.
- Test the source and transitions independently. Play the relevant assets and listen through the song boundary outside the live output.
FFmpeg’s online documentation can describe options unavailable in older builds. Confirm an option against your installed version’s documentation or help before relying on it.
Check YouTube’s audio settings and health messages
YouTube’s current live encoder guidance reviewed in 2026 recommends these settings. They are configuration recommendations, not a guarantee that a stream will never drop audio.

| Audio format | Recommended sample rate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| Stereo | 44.1 kHz | 128 kbps |
| 5.1 surround | 48 kHz | 384 kbps |
For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube’s general guidance lists AAC or MP3 as supported audio codecs and recommends AAC for 5.1 audio. Its Live Streaming API audio checks describe 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz as recommended sample rates and check for one or two channels. Follow the particular settings and warnings shown for your stream rather than assuming that every source or delivery configuration is identical.
YouTube’s encoder guidance also recommends constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, a two-second keyframe interval and a keyframe interval no longer than four seconds. These are live-stream encoder recommendations; they are not evidence that a specific audio dropout has been fixed. YouTube Help advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Include representative audio and movement in that test, and monitor stream health and messages during the event.

Use the exact warning to narrow the cause
YouTube’s health checks include unsupported audio codec, incorrect sample rate, too many channels, bitrate problems, multiple audio streams and video ingestion starvation. Treat each warning as a lead to verify against your actual outgoing stream. For example, a multiple-audio-stream warning makes stream mapping worth checking; video starvation means YouTube is not receiving enough video and should not be presented as proof of an audio fault.
Correct the audio output only when the evidence points to it
Inspect the actual audio streams in your input files and output. If a file contains multiple tracks, map the intended one explicitly in your FFmpeg command, using the correct input and stream indices for that file. Do not copy a mapping expression blindly: the command, media structure and desired output determine the right indices.

If the outgoing stream has the wrong codec, sample rate, channel count or bitrate, adjust the audio encoding and verify the resulting output properties. Use the YouTube recommendations above as a target for the relevant format. Transcoding cannot restore sound missing from the original media, and changing audio settings will not repair an output connection failure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Distinguish input retries from output recovery
FFmpeg has HTTP protocol options for retrying input reads after EOF, network errors, selected HTTP errors and failures on streamed or non-seekable inputs. Those options concern reading from an input; they do not guarantee recovery when an RTMP or RTMPS output to YouTube fails. Confirm the option names and behavior in the documentation for your installed FFmpeg build.

For some output failures, FFmpeg’s FIFO muxer can separate encoding from muxing into another thread and retry output after selected failures. It is a recovery strategy to test, not a universal fix. Its queue policy matters: a full queue can block encoding, or the configuration can drop packets to keep processing moving. Dropping packets creates missing content. Test the behavior with your actual source, output and installed version, then observe what YouTube does after reconnection.
Check the connection and the 24/7 operating setup
Use a reliable upload connection with enough capacity for the video quality you selected. A speed test can show current capacity; it cannot prove the connection will remain uninterrupted. If evidence points specifically to Wi-Fi instability or a faulty physical link, testing a wired connection may help isolate that cause, but no cable is a guaranteed cure for audio interruptions.
For an unattended stream, monitor more than the initial launch. Track whether FFmpeg remains running, whether restart behavior works as intended, whether the source stays available, and whether logs and disk use grow without limit. Set up alerting so a failed process or prolonged outage does not go unnoticed. These are operational safeguards, not special YouTube requirements.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you observe | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The same gap is audible in a local source file | Play the file around the affected timestamp. | Repair or replace the source; encoder flags cannot fill in absent audio. |
| Silence appears at song changes | Inspect the files’ audio streams and the playlist or transition logic. | Test the transition outside the live stream and correct the source or assembly if the gap is there. |
| FFmpeg logs input read or decode errors | Compare the error timestamp with the dropout and inspect input availability and media decoding. | Address the input failure first; only use input retry options when their documented behavior fits the input. |
| YouTube reports an audio configuration issue | Check the outgoing codec, sample rate, channels, bitrate and number of audio streams. | Correct the mismatched setting or stream mapping, then run a representative test. |
| FFmpeg reports output write errors or the output disconnects | Check the connection and whether the process reconnects; distinguish this from an input read failure. | Test an output-side recovery approach such as FIFO muxing if appropriate, accounting for blocking versus packet dropping. |
| YouTube reports video starvation | Check video delivery and whether sufficient video is reaching YouTube. | Investigate video ingestion separately; the warning alone does not establish an audio-specific failure. |
| The live stream is quiet or missing audio but local output is clean | Compare YouTube’s health messages and the outgoing stream configuration with the locally monitored output. | Investigate ingestion and output delivery before re-encoding the source. |
Copyright and Tamil music are separate from audio transport
Tamil is the language of the music, not a special FFmpeg transport setting. The technical checks concern the audio and video streams and the connection. Separately, make sure you have the rights and permissions needed to broadcast every recording and composition in a 24/7 YouTube stream. Correct encoder settings do not establish copyright permission or prevent a rights-related interruption.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep pre-recorded videos playing on YouTube around the clock rather than troubleshoot a self-managed FFmpeg setup, StreamNeo is a cloud service for that workflow. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay running at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not broadcast a live camera feed. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
