If that does not help, clear the launcher cache; use the Rockstar authorization, DNS, and permissions checks below only when they match your error or setup. Reinstalling should be a later step.
1. Verify GTA V’s files in Epic Games Launcher
- Open Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Find GTA V, select its three-dot menu, then choose Manage > Verify.
- Wait for verification to finish, then try launching the game again from Epic.
Epic Games Store Support says Verify checks for damaged or corrupted files and repairs files that differ from the expected versions. Epic says this process does not affect saved data. Epic’s file verification instructions.

2. Clear Epic Games Launcher’s cache
A damaged launcher cache can interfere with a game launch. Exit Epic Games Launcher completely before clearing its cache, especially if Rockstar Launcher displays “Authorization Pending.” Epic’s general LS-0013 guidance includes cache clearing, and its authorization guidance specifically calls for exiting Epic first. Follow Epic’s cache-clearing steps, then reopen Epic and try GTA V again. Epic’s Authorization Pending guidance.
3. Match Rockstar messages to the right fix
“Authorization Pending” or “Awaiting authorization from the Epic Games Launcher”
Check that your Epic Games and Rockstar accounts are linked and that the authorization process has completed. Epic says authorization can take up to five minutes. If the message disappears but the game still will not launch, Epic recommends exiting Epic, clearing its cache, switching to public DNS, running Epic as administrator, and trying again. “An error occurred while authenticating with Rockstar Games services”
This is a distinct authentication symptom, not the meaning of every LS-0013 error. For this GTA V launch error on Windows, Epic directs users to its public DNS troubleshooting steps. Apply them if this is the message you see, rather than treating a DNS change as a universal LS-0013 fix. Epic’s GTA V authentication troubleshooting.
4. Run the launchers with appropriate permissions
Epic lists administrator permissions as a possible fix for launch problems. Because GTA V through Epic may also use Rockstar Launcher, Epic recommends running both Epic Games Launcher and the third-party launcher as administrator before starting the game from Epic. This is a permissions check, not a requirement for every LS-0013 case. See Epic’s administrator instructions and its LS-0013 guidance.

5. Check for software or network interference
If the steps above do not resolve the launch failure, Epic suggests checking whether background applications, antivirus or firewall settings, or network restrictions are interfering. Temporarily close background software as a diagnostic step. Check that Epic Games Launcher, Rockstar Launcher, and GTA V are allowed through your firewall or antivirus rather than disabling protection altogether. Parental controls or network blacklists can also block connections; review those settings if the error points to a network or sign-in issue. Epic includes reinstalling the game or Epic Games Launcher among later options for LS-0013. Before doing that, complete file verification and the relevant cache, account, DNS, permissions, and interference checks. A separate Rockstar Launcher error may call for a Rockstar Launcher reinstall, but do not treat that as a mandatory LS-0013 fix: follow the instructions for the exact error shown. For Rockstar Launcher error 1000.186, Epic’s guidance describes a clean reinstall and warns against deleting files beyond the specified scope because game data could be lost.
