If inZOI is stuttering, freezing, or dropping frames, first identify whether the problem is low local frame rate, a hang during shader compilation, a crash, or delayed character movement. Then change one likely cause at a time: check your game version and hardware, update Windows and graphics drivers, reduce rendering load, and use the separate Frame Generation or Mac steps only when they apply. No setting is guaranteed to fix every case.
Identify the problem before changing settings
“Lag” can describe different symptoms, and the right fix depends on which one you have. A low or uneven frame rate is a rendering problem; a pause or closure during shader compilation is a different issue; delayed or rubberbanding character movement may involve network stability. A freeze can also be tied to a particular game version or update.
- Low or uneven FPS: start with graphics settings and whether the system is under resource pressure.
- Hitching during shader compilation: follow the platform-specific graphics and background-app steps below.
- Characters update late or move erratically: on Mac, include a network-stability check; that symptom alone does not establish that rendering is the cause.
- Issue began after a patch or setting change: record that timing and compare the same scene after each troubleshooting change.
Before making changes, note the platform, game version, CPU, GPU and VRAM, RAM, storage type, operating-system version, active mods, resolution and graphics settings, upscaling or Frame Generation status, and when the problem started. This matches the details requested in the inZOI bug-reporting guidance.
Check whether your system meets the published requirements
The inZOI Help Center’s requirements page, updated November 5, 2025, lists these baselines. Meeting a recommended specification does not guarantee a particular frame rate or eliminate stuttering.

The Help Center cautions that the app may not function properly on macOS earlier than Sequoia or on Macs with Apple M1 chipsets. Check the current inZOI system requirements for changes after the page’s update date.
Windows PC: update software and isolate background interference
The inZOI support article How to Reduce Lag in inZOI, updated August 20, 2025, recommends updating Windows and installing the latest graphics driver from the GPU manufacturer. If you choose the driver installer’s clean-install option, the article says it clears shader cache. Driver interfaces and options change, so follow the current instructions from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel for your GPU.

- Close nonessential overlays, screen-capture tools, and high-memory applications.
- Update Windows and the graphics driver using the relevant manufacturer’s current instructions.
- Restart inZOI and test the same scene you used for your baseline.
- If performance changes, re-enable closed apps one at a time to see whether one is contributing.
A driver update or cache clear is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed fix—especially when the issue began after a game update.
Reduce rendering load one setting at a time
When the problem is local FPS loss, reducing GPU work is the most direct settings branch. The inZOI Help Center’s Tips on Optimal Settings for the Best Experience, updated March 27, 2025, recommends lowering resolution or resolution scale, using DLSS, FSR, or XeSS Performance or Ultra Performance modes, or enabling dynamic resolution.

- Lower resolution or resolution scale. This reduces GPU load, but can make the image less sharp. The support article states, “Lowering resolution significantly reduces GPU load.”
- Try an upscaling or dynamic-resolution option. Choose DLSS, FSR, or XeSS if available for your system, or enable dynamic resolution. Compare the result in the same scene.
- Reduce demanding quality settings. Try the Very Low or Low preset, then lower Shader Quality, Background Detail Quality, or Shadow Quality.
- Turn off ray tracing if needed. This can reduce GPU load. The support article also mentions a Fallback Mesh ray-tracing target, but warns it may crash on high-end systems; do not treat it as a universally safe performance setting.
Change one option at a time and keep it only if it improves your own case. The official guidance does not promise a specific FPS gain.
If stuttering started after enabling DLSS Frame Generation
Use this branch only if you have enabled DLSS Frame Generation. The inZOI article How to Use DLSS Frame Generation, updated March 19, 2025, says vertical sync must be enabled in NVIDIA Control Panel to use DLSS Frame Generation and vertical sync simultaneously.

The same article identifies screen-recording software as a possible cause of unusual Frame Generation behavior, including the frame rate becoming fixed at 30 FPS after a period or previous frames appearing. Close recording software and test again. These symptoms are specific to the Frame Generation scenario; they are not a general explanation for every stutter.

For Mac gameplay lag, the inZOI lag guidance recommends checking Wi-Fi stability, trying wired LAN or 5 GHz Wi-Fi if possible, closing high-resource applications, lowering resolution scale and shadow or texture quality to Medium or lower, checking for macOS updates, and connecting the power adapter with battery saver off. Network checks are particularly relevant when character positions update late; they do not explain every local rendering slowdown.

If the game closes during shader compilation
For unexpected closure during shader compilation, the separate Mac shader-compilation support article recommends Medium-or-lower graphics and Medium or Low texture, shadow, and effects quality. Reduce resolution scale; the article gives 70% from 100% as an example. Close high-memory applications and avoid heat-related throttling during long sessions.
Consider storage or memory upgrades only when the evidence points there
The performance guidance says installing inZOI on an SSD can reduce strain from texture streaming and map loading. The published Windows requirements also specify an SSD. This makes an SSD worth considering when the game is on slower storage or storage streaming is implicated, not a universal cure for FPS drops.
Sufficient system or virtual memory may help when inadequate resources are causing FPS loss, but upgrading RAM is not a reliable answer to every post-update stutter. In a September 2026 official forum report, one player with an RTX 4060 8 GB, 16 GB RAM, and an SSD said severe stutter began after a September update and that moving to 32 GB did not change it. That is one player’s report, not a controlled test; it is a reason to check version-specific causes before buying memory.
When the problem continues
Check whether a relevant patch addresses your symptom, but do not assume that a fix for some crashes or freezes covers every case. KRAFTON’s v0.8.4 patch notes, dated May 13, 2026, say some crash and freezing issues were fixed. Later player reports, including a September 2026 forum thread, describe continuing problems; individual reports can identify patterns but do not establish a universal cause.

If you report the issue, include the game version, platform, mod status, operating system, full hardware details, date it began, any error message, and reproducible steps. The official reporting guidance says the team may request logs or dump files during some investigations. Avoid registry edits and unofficial optimization tools while the cause is unknown; the official troubleshooting guidance instead focuses on software updates, background apps, graphics settings, and platform-specific checks.
