For a mobile stream that drops packets while you move, the IRL Pro setup guide recommends SRT over RTMP; if SRT is already selected, lower the bitrate and test again. The available guidance does not establish a general fault with Indian broadband providers, so identify where the stream fails before blaming an ISP.
1. Refresh the YouTube stream URL and key
A saved destination can stop working if the stream key was rotated or its region or protocol changed. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and check the intended stream’s current server URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder instructions say to put the URL in the encoder’s server field and the key in its stream-key field. If you reset a key or suspect it was exposed, replace the saved key in IRL Pro as well.
If you use the Enhanced IRL relay configuration, paste the entire newly published URL into IRL Pro after changing region or protocol, or rotating the key. Its guide says those changes invalidate the previous URL. Make sure the chosen protocol matches the URL and the corresponding fields in your app configuration. For a scheduled YouTube stream
A transport connection can be working even if a scheduled broadcast has not begun for viewers. YouTube may show an encoder preview first and require you to select Go live. Auto-start and auto-stop settings also affect how the event starts and ends; they are separate from whether IRL Pro reconnects after a dropped connection. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream settings before treating an unstarted event as a network disconnection. YouTube: Get started with live streaming

2. Choose a protocol that suits the connection
The Enhanced IRL guide for its IRL Pro setup describes RTMP and SRT over a single connection. It recommends SRT for mobile streaming on the move because its guidance says SRT handles packet loss better than RTMP. This is provider guidance, not a guarantee that every drop will be fixed by changing protocols. If SRT is already selected, reduce bitrate and test before making other changes. Enhanced IRL setup guidance
| Option | When it may fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| RTMP | When the exact IRL Pro and destination or relay configuration calls for RTMP and the connection is stable enough for the selected bitrate. | The cited IRL Pro guide recommends SRT instead for a single mobile link that loses packets while moving. |
| SRT | When streaming over one mobile connection on the move and packet loss is a concern, provided the selected relay and destination path support the configuration. | If it still falters, the guide advises lowering bitrate. The cited material does not establish universal end-to-end SRT compatibility for every YouTube route. |
| RTMPS | YouTube’s current help content recommends encrypted RTMPS ingestion when the encoder setup supports it. | The IRL Pro source cited here confirms RTMP and SRT, but does not confirm RTMPS support in every IRL Pro configuration. Verify support with the exact app and service setup before switching. |
The cited Enhanced IRL configuration uses one connection; adding a second SIM or Wi-Fi link does not mean this setup is bonding them. Although the IRL Pro website lists SRTLA bonding as an app feature, Enhanced IRL’s app-specific guide describes its own IRL Pro configuration as single-connection and points to Moblin or BELABOX with SRTLA for a bonded multi-connection setup. Treat bonding as dependent on the exact app, relay and configuration rather than a universal IRL Pro behavior. Enhanced IRL setup guidance · IRL Pro

3. Lower the bitrate to match real upload capacity
Use measured outbound capacity, not download speed, to choose a stream bitrate. YouTube advises having enough upload bandwidth for the selected bitrate, leaving headroom, and testing under movement conditions similar to the broadcast. A connection that looks fine while stationary may not hold while walking or changing coverage. YouTube: Encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions

| Resolution and frame rate | YouTube-listed recommended bitrate | YouTube-listed minimum bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
| 720p30 | 8 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
These are platform encoder recommendations, not evidence that an Indian mobile or home uplink can sustain those rates. If the stream drops, step down the bitrate; if needed, also reduce resolution or frame rate, then repeat a realistic field test. Enhanced IRL publishes plan-specific bitrate caps and a starting heuristic of half the applicable cap followed by a test walk. Those limits apply to that service, not to YouTube or Indian broadband generally. Enhanced IRL setup guidance
4. Find which part of the streaming chain is failing
Check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview or stream-health message alongside the relay’s chain or status view. The point is to distinguish a feed that never reaches the relay, one that fails between relay and YouTube, and a feed that reaches YouTube but has not been started as an event.

- Check the destination: Confirm the intended YouTube event, current URL and key in the Live Control Room.
- Check the relay: Review its connection or chain status to see whether IRL Pro’s feed arrives and whether the relay reports a downstream problem.
- Compare with another encoder: Enhanced IRL’s troubleshooting workflow suggests a 30-second test from another phone app using the same URL. If that feed arrives, focus on IRL Pro’s configuration; if it does not, investigate the key or subscription in that provider’s setup.
- Record the conditions: Note the plan or subscription status, exact app and Android versions, protocol, bitrate, full error text, whether the failure happens while stationary or moving, and whether the same URL works in another encoder.
The alternate-app check is a diagnostic documented for Enhanced IRL’s workflow; it does not prove that every other relay has the same procedure. Enhanced IRL asks users reporting an issue to provide their plan, encoder, protocol and exact message. Enhanced IRL troubleshooting guidance

Test upload performance where and how you plan to broadcast. On mobile data, walk the route or test the areas where you expect to stream; on home broadband, test the actual Wi-Fi or wired connection used by the phone. Keep bitrate below what the uplink can reliably sustain, with room for variation. Download speed alone is not a useful pass/fail check for an outbound live stream.

The consulted guidance does not identify a particular Indian ISP, city, state, carrier, phone, Android version or outage timestamp as the cause of IRL Pro drops. If you suspect a provider issue, record the access type (fiber, fixed wireless, Wi-Fi or cellular), location, time, upload results and whether another network changes the outcome. Without those details, attributing disconnects to an Indian provider would be speculation.
Common symptoms and fixes
| Symptom | Likely check | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| The stream stopped working after a key, region or protocol change. | The stored URL or key may be obsolete. | Copy the current URL and key from the destination or relay and replace the complete saved values in IRL Pro. |
| The stream drops more often while walking than while stationary. | Variable mobile uplink or packet loss may be interrupting the feed. | If the setup supports it, try SRT; lower bitrate if needed and repeat a test walk. |
| SRT is selected but the stream still falters. | The bitrate may exceed reliable upload capacity. | Reduce bitrate, then lower resolution or frame rate if necessary; test again under realistic conditions. |
| The relay does not show an incoming feed. | Check IRL Pro’s protocol, URL and key fields, and the connection used by the phone. | Verify the full current destination URL and credentials; compare with another encoder using the same URL if available. |
| The relay shows a feed but YouTube does not appear live. | The event may be awaiting preview or a manual start. | Check Live Control Room health and preview, then select Go live if the scheduled event requires it; review auto-start settings. |
| A second connection appears available but the stream still behaves like one link. | The selected app-and-relay configuration may not bond connections. | Verify explicit SRTLA support and configuration across the encoder and relay; do not assume separate links are automatically combined. |
