To fix lag in Honor of Kings, first work out whether the problem is network delay or choppy performance on the phone: compare a second stable Wi-Fi or mobile connection, then check background activity, heat, power settings, storage, updates, and touch input. There is no evidence-backed universal “good ping” cutoff, and no accessory or advertised internet speed is guaranteed to fix a connection problem.
Work out what kind of lag you are seeing
High ping, sudden ping spikes, rubber-banding, delayed actions, and disconnections suggest a connection problem, but they do not prove one. Choppy animation or frames freezing can instead involve the phone’s performance. Missed taps or skills may be a touch-input issue. These symptoms can overlap, so use the checks below to see what changes the problem.
The game’s privacy policy lists network round-trip time, Wi-Fi strength, mobile-signal strength, and frame information among performance and network diagnostics. It does not publish a typical ping value or a threshold that separates good from bad ping. Honor of Kings privacy policy
Test whether the connection is causing ping spikes
- Try a different stable connection. If available, play a short comparison on another Wi-Fi network or on mobile data. HONOR’s device support recommends trying a stable Wi-Fi or mobile network when gameplay is delayed, freezing, or disconnecting. This is general device-maker advice, not game-specific network engineering guidance. HONOR gameplay troubleshooting
- Pause competing traffic. Stop active downloads and uploads during the comparison so they are less likely to affect the result.
- Compare the same symptom. Watch the game’s network indicator if one is available, and note whether spikes, delayed actions, or disconnects follow one connection. A network test is a diagnostic clue; it does not mean Wi-Fi or mobile data is always better.
If the game improves on one connection, that points toward a difference in network stability or conditions. It does not establish that you need a new router, a VPN, or a faster internet plan.

Check whether the phone is struggling
Reduce background work and restart
Close apps you do not need, pause downloads or file copying, and restart the phone. HONOR says simultaneous background apps may contribute to lag or freezing and recommends restarting as part of troubleshooting. HONOR gameplay troubleshooting
Check available storage
Look at the phone’s storage settings and free space if storage is critically low. HONOR’s gameplay page and slow-loading page give different free-space recommendations—at least 20% and at least 10%, respectively—so neither percentage should be treated as a universal Honor of Kings requirement. Test power settings
If the phone has a power-saving mode enabled, turn it off for a test if your battery and device settings allow. HONOR recommends disabling power-saving mode where appropriate; behavior and settings vary by device.
Check heat and graphics-related frame drops
If frames get choppier as the phone heats up, let it cool and, if the game offers the option, lower demanding graphics settings for a comparison. HONOR says overheating protection may affect system performance and recommends adjusting game settings and letting the phone cool. That is guidance about device performance, not evidence that cooling lowers ping. Do not keep playing while the phone is uncomfortably hot. HONOR gameplay troubleshooting

A phone cooler is only a possible accessory to consider when heat coincides with frame drops. It cannot repair network latency, and the available guidance does not establish that one will resolve lag.

Separate missed touches from lag
If the game looks smooth and the connection seems stable but taps still fail, check the phone’s touch settings and whether a screen protector is affecting input. HONOR says a protector thicker than 0.2 mm may affect touch sensitivity on supported HONOR devices; that specification should not be generalized to other phone brands. HONOR gameplay troubleshooting
Check for a possible server-side problem
If the issue continues across different networks, try the game on another phone if one is available. HONOR’s slow-loading guidance says the same problem on another phone makes a game-server issue possible, but this test cannot confirm an outage. The Google Play description says the game uses local servers to support smooth gameplay; that is the publisher’s description, not a guarantee that every regional server is available or problem-free.
