Frame-rate stutter, delayed or missed inputs, and rubber-banding can look similar while pointing to different parts of the experience. Frame drops are visual stutters; rubber-banding is a player or enemy snapping back or moving inconsistently in an online session. Record which symptom you see rather than treating every kind of lag as a network problem.
Work through these checks in order
1. Compare solo play with multiplayer
Try the same game in solo/offline play and online multiplayer. If solo play is smooth but multiplayer is not, that makes online session or connection conditions worth investigating; it does not prove that your home network is at fault. 2. Check PlayStation Network and test the PS5 connection
- Check PlayStation Network service status.
- On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection.
- Note any connection error and whether it coincides with the multiplayer problem.

4. Restart the console and router if connectivity is failing
PlayStation’s general connection guidance includes restarting the PS5 and router; for the cited error, it advises waiting at least five minutes before restarting the router. Use this if your connection is failing or unstable, not as a promise to remove frame drops. 5. Check for game and system software updates
Use PlayStation’s instructions to check for available game and PS5 system software updates. Keeping software current is sensible maintenance, but the cited guidance does not say that a particular update fixes this game’s lag. Keep a useful record if the problem continues
If the checks do not help, report the issue through current official Minecraft support or feedback channels. Include details that help distinguish a connection symptom from a performance symptom:
- Whether it occurs solo, online, or both
- Whether the PS5 was using Wi‑Fi or wired LAN
- What you observed: frame drops, delayed or missed inputs, rubber-banding, or another symptom
- How often it happens, without presenting one session’s timing as a general rate
- Your PS5 model, game version, and any error code
- Whether a restart or software update changed anything
Make comparisons in similar modes or sessions and change one condition at a time. That record can make a support report more useful, but it cannot by itself identify the cause.

Online play requirement
The US PlayStation Store listing says PS Plus is required for online play. Minecraft’s announcement also notes that online console multiplayer or co-op requires a platform-specific online subscription sold separately. This is an access requirement, not a lag remedy.
