First check whether you can sign in to your NVIDIA Account in a regular browser. If the website also rejects your login, fix the account before changing Windows or reinstalling software. If the website works but the desktop app does not, focus on the app, its network path, and NVIDIA background processes.
“GeForce login” usually means the NVIDIA App, the current name for NVIDIA’s desktop software formerly called GeForce Experience. GeForce NOW is a separate cloud-gaming service; if its app or website is failing, use the GeForce NOW support options instead of following driver-cleanup steps for the NVIDIA App.
Identify which NVIDIA sign-in is failing
Check the app name and where the error appears before troubleshooting. The NVIDIA App is used for NVIDIA driver management and features such as game optimization and recording. GeForce NOW is NVIDIA’s cloud-gaming service. Signing in to the NVIDIA Account website is a third, separate test.

- If it appears in GeForce NOW, use NVIDIA’s consumer support page to find GeForce NOW support and service-status options.
- If you cannot sign in at the NVIDIA Account website, resolve the account issue first. Reinstalling the Windows app will not fix a failed web login.
A blank or looping sign-in window, or a desktop-app error such as “Login failed” while browser sign-in succeeds, points toward a local app or connection problem. It does not prove a particular cause.

Try these low-risk checks first
- Restart Windows, then try the NVIDIA App again.
- Confirm that other websites load and test your account in a normal browser.
- Check NVIDIA’s consumer support page for service-status links before assuming the service is down.
- Open Settings > Time & language > Date & time. Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically; select Sync now if available.
- Temporarily disconnect from a third-party VPN and check Settings > Network & internet > Proxy for a proxy you do not need.
- If practical, test on another network, such as a phone hotspot. If sign-in works there, investigate the usual network’s router filtering, DNS, parental controls, proxy settings, or captive portal.
If third-party antivirus or web-filtering software may be blocking authentication, briefly test with that product’s web filtering disabled, then turn it back on immediately. Do not permanently disable Microsoft Defender or Windows Firewall. If the test identifies a security product as the cause, use a narrowly scoped allow rule or ask its vendor for help.
If the NVIDIA Account website also rejects your login
Use NVIDIA’s “Need help logging in?” account flow to recover access or reset the password. Confirm that you are using the correct email address and account type; an enterprise account used for licensing portals may not be the consumer NVIDIA Account you expect.
If a verification or password-reset message does not arrive, check spam, junk, promotions, and any quarantine folder. NVIDIA advises adding [email protected] to your safe-senders list when verification email is missing; see its verification-email guidance. After regaining account access, try the NVIDIA App again.

If browser sign-in works but the NVIDIA App does not
This makes a local app, embedded sign-in window, or connection-path problem more likely, though it does not identify the cause by itself. Work through the following steps in order.
Close the app and restart NVIDIA services
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. End NVIDIA App or GeForce Experience processes that are clearly associated with the app.
- Press Win + R, enter
services.msc, and press Enter. - Look for NVIDIA services. Restart services that are stopped or appear stuck, then reopen the NVIDIA App and test sign-in.
Service names and counts vary with the GPU, driver, laptop manufacturer, and installed NVIDIA features. Do not change every service to Automatic or start services you do not recognize. NVIDIA’s installer troubleshooting guidance also recommends closing NVIDIA processes and stopping NVIDIA services when recovering from a bad application or installation state.
Repair, then reset the NVIDIA App
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find NVIDIA App, select its three-dot menu, and choose Advanced options if that option appears.
- Select Terminate, then try Repair. Reopen the app and test sign-in.
- If Repair does not help, return to the same page and select Reset, then restart Windows and test again.
Windows’ available controls vary by app packaging and Windows build. Reset can remove cached sessions, preferences, overlay settings, or other local configuration.

Reinstall the NVIDIA App
If the account works on the web and repair or reset has not restored app sign-in, reinstall the app before considering a driver cleanup.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find NVIDIA App, and uninstall it.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the current installer from NVIDIA’s NVIDIA App page.
- Close browsers, game launchers, GPU-monitoring tools, and other 3D applications; then run the installer as administrator.
- Restart after installation and test sign-in before restoring optional overlays or tuning utilities.
NVIDIA’s installation troubleshooting instructions recommend uninstalling the NVIDIA App, rebooting, downloading the current installer, and reinstalling when simpler recovery does not work.
Clean-install the graphics driver only if driver installation is also failing
A login failure by itself is not a reason to wipe or clean-install the graphics driver. Use this procedure only if the driver installation, app installation, or driver components are failing too. NVIDIA documents this installer path:

- Download the appropriate Game Ready Driver from NVIDIA’s driver download page.
- Close browsers, video players, game launchers, GPU-monitoring or tuning tools, and other 3D applications. NVIDIA notes that Windows Update running in the background and open applications can interfere with installation.
- Right-click the driver installer and select Run as administrator.
- Choose NVIDIA Graphics Driver and NVIDIA App, then select Custom (Advanced).
- Select Perform a clean installation, complete setup, and restart Windows.
See NVIDIA’s manual clean-install instructions. This is NVIDIA’s built-in procedure; third-party driver cleaners are not a necessary first step.

Windows 11 N
Check your edition at Settings > System > About > Windows specifications. On Windows 11 N, NVIDIA says the Microsoft Media Feature Pack may be needed for overlay features. If you are also having overlay problems, install the pack, restart, and reinstall the NVIDIA App as described in NVIDIA’s overlay guidance for Windows N. This is an edge case for overlay problems, not a universal fix for sign-in failures.

Laptop graphics mode
Some laptops let a manufacturer utility disable the discrete NVIDIA GPU in an iGPU-only, Eco, or battery-saving mode. If your laptop has such a control, temporarily switch to its standard, hybrid, or discrete-GPU mode, restart Windows, and test the app. The exact setting depends on the laptop model; do not assume every laptop has one.

Only one Windows user account is affected
Test the NVIDIA App from another Windows user account. If it works there, the issue may be limited to the original profile or its per-user app data. This comparison is less disruptive than a driver cleanup.
The sign-in window is blank
First check the system clock, VPN or proxy, security filtering, and network connection. Then try app repair or reset and, if needed, reinstall the NVIDIA App. An embedded sign-in window can fail independently of browser sign-in; a blank window alone does not establish that a particular browser component must be installed.
Get drivers without signing in
If your immediate goal is only to install a graphics driver, use NVIDIA’s manual driver-download page. A failed NVIDIA App login does not necessarily prevent downloading and installing a driver directly.

If the account works on the web but the app still fails after reinstalling—or if the installer itself fails—contact NVIDIA through its consumer support options. Include details that help distinguish an account issue from a Windows, network, or installation problem:
