First, identify whether the missing game was a claimed Monthly Game or a rotating Game Catalog title. A claimed Monthly Game is available while your PlayStation Plus membership is active; a catalog game can disappear when Sony removes it from the service. Then check the account and entitlement before restoring licenses.
Check whether the game should still be available
Claimed Monthly Game
Monthly Games are available to download and play while the membership is active. On PS4, Sony’s instructions say to select Add to Library when claiming the game. If you never claimed it during its availability period, it may not be in your library. See Sony’s PlayStation Plus Monthly Games guide.
Game Catalog or Classics Catalog title
Game Catalog access requires PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium; Classics Catalog access is a Premium benefit under Sony’s plan comparison. Catalog titles can leave the service, so check that the game is still listed and included with your tier. If it has been removed, restoring licenses will not restore access through the catalog. Work through the account and library checks
- Confirm the signed-in account. Use the PlayStation account that claimed the Monthly Game or purchased the game. For a purchase, check the account’s transaction history to confirm it completed.
- Check membership and entitlement. Confirm the subscription is active if access depends on PlayStation Plus. For a catalog game, verify both the required tier and that the title remains available.
- Check hidden games. Open the library’s hidden-games area and unhide the title if it is there. Sony notes that games hidden in a library are hidden across consoles.
- Check sharing settings. If another account provides access, confirm sharing is enabled on the console. On PS5, check Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play. On PS4, check whether the account has activated the console as its primary PS4.
These checks address different situations: a game may be absent from the listing, visible but locked, or unavailable because the account no longer has access. Sony’s game and download troubleshooting covers library and access issues.

Restore licenses on PS5 or PS4
If the account should have access but the game still cannot be located or is locked, restore licenses:
- PS5: Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
- PS4: Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses.
Sony says restoring licenses “won’t affect your data.” It can help with a missing or inaccessible entitlement, but it cannot bring back a catalog title that has left the service. See How to restore licenses on PlayStation consoles.

Check service status and retry a failed download
If the game appears but will not download or launch, check the PlayStation service status and install the latest system software. For a stalled PS5 download, pause it and resume. If it remains stuck, cancel and delete the download entry, then try downloading again from the Game Library.

If the account, membership, catalog availability, sharing, and license checks do not resolve the issue, contact PlayStation Support. Include any error code or message, a clear description of what happens and the steps that reproduce it, plus the date and time of an attempt. Support-page wording can vary by region, so consult your local PlayStation support site if the menu labels differ.
