“Lag” in PUBG MOBILE can mean delayed network actions, dropped frames, overheating, corrupted app data, or a game-side problem. Watch the symptom first: teleporting players and late hit registration point to ping or packet loss; visible stutter, delayed touch response, and problems that worsen as the phone heats up point to FPS or thermal limits. Both can happen together, so test the least destructive fix for each cause.
Try these fixes first
- Completely close PUBG MOBILE and restart the phone or tablet.
- Close streaming, cloud-sync, downloads, screen recording, video calls, overlays, other games, VPNs, and network-filtering tools.
- Test a short training session on Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or on another Wi‑Fi network.
- Update PUBG MOBILE from the official app store and install a compatible Android, iOS, or iPadOS update.
- Temporarily select Smooth (or the lowest available graphics preset), reduce the frame-rate option by one level, and disable optional effects or recording features.
- Play in a cool, shaded place and avoid charging while playing if the device becomes hot.

Identify whether the problem is ping or FPS
Signs of network lag
- Ping suddenly rises or a connection warning appears.
- Players teleport, move backward, or freeze.
- Shots, doors, loot, and vehicles respond late.
- The picture remains relatively smooth while online actions are delayed.
Weak or congested Wi‑Fi, cellular congestion, router interference, background uploads, VPN routing, or a server problem can cause this pattern.
Signs of FPS or rendering lag
- The image visibly stutters during fights, smoke, explosions, driving, or crowded areas.
- Touch controls feel delayed even when ping looks stable.
- The phone is hot, or performance worsens after a long session.
- Lowering graphics makes the game smoother.

Use a short controlled test
- Play a few minutes in training or a match and note whether the symptom is visual stutter or delayed online response.
- Repeat on another connection where practical.
- Lower graphics temporarily.
- Compare performance immediately after a restart with performance after a long session.
A high-refresh display does not guarantee that PUBG MOBILE renders at that refresh rate. Available frame-rate choices depend on the device, chipset, operating system, game build, region, and optimization. ASUS’s published 120-FPS guidance was specific to selected ROG Phone models and settings, not every gaming phone: ASUS ROG guidance.
Fix high ping, packet loss, and disconnects
- Move close to the Wi‑Fi router and retest.
- Pause streaming, downloads, cloud backups, and other devices’ heavy traffic.
- Restart the router.
- Test the same mode on mobile data, or on a different Wi‑Fi network.
- Disable a VPN or “game booster” temporarily for comparison.
- Use PUBG MOBILE’s normal server-selection controls; do not force unofficial routes.
Stable LTE or Wi‑Fi can outperform congested 5G. Changing DNS, buying a gaming VPN, or using a ping-booster app is not a guaranteed cure and can add latency, cost, privacy concerns, or another failure point. A phone upgrade cannot repair a congested router, cellular network, or server-side outage.

Stop FPS drops and stutter
Use a stability-first graphics profile
- Choose Smooth or the lowest available graphics preset.
- Lower the frame-rate setting one step if the device cannot sustain it.
- Reduce or disable anti-aliasing and optional effects when those controls are available.
- Turn off highlights, recording, or similar extras during testing.
- Change one setting at a time where possible, then retest the same scenario.
A stable lower frame rate is usually preferable to a higher setting that repeatedly drops frames. PUBG MOBILE’s crash guidance recommends changing graphics settings, but exact options vary by build and device: PUBG MOBILE crash guidance.
When only one mode or map is affected
Higher player density, mode-specific effects, incomplete resource downloads, or a game-side bug may explain the difference. Test another mode before deciding that the entire device is inadequate.

Prevent heat-related throttling
Gaming creates sustained CPU and GPU heat. When the device gets too hot, it can reduce performance, so a match may begin smoothly and stutter 20–40 minutes later.
- Remove a thick case temporarily.
- Play away from direct sunlight in a cool, ventilated area.
- Do not cover vents or hold the device against heat-trapping surfaces.
- Avoid fast-charging during play if charging makes the phone hot.
- Lower graphics and FPS and close demanding background apps.
- Stop playing if the device becomes uncomfortably hot.
A phone cooler may extend sustained performance but cannot reduce ping or repair a faulty update. PUBG MOBILE specifically recommends lower screen/graphics and FPS options to reduce heat and battery consumption: PUBG MOBILE overheating guidance.

Android fixes
Clear the cache
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps or Applications.
- Select PUBG MOBILE.
- Open Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache, then restart the game.
Labels differ by manufacturer and Android version. Clearing cache removes temporary files; it does not fix network or server problems.
Do not confuse cache with app data
Clear data/storage resets local data and can require a fresh login and resource download. Reinstalling is more disruptive. PUBG MOBILE warns that removing the app can lose guest-account information, so link the account and confirm recovery access first: PUBG MOBILE reinstall guidance.

iPhone and iPad fixes
- Force-close PUBG MOBILE and restart the device.
- Update the game in the App Store.
- Install an available compatible iOS or iPadOS update.
- Check free storage and remove unneeded files if necessary.
- Test without a VPN, screen recorder, or overlay.
- Offload or delete and reinstall only after confirming the account is linked and recoverable.
iOS and iPadOS do not generally provide an Android-style manual cache button; restarting, updating, offloading, or reinstalling are the usual app-level options.
If lag began after an update
- Restart the device and clear the Android cache if applicable.
- Test another network and another game mode.
- Check official PUBG MOBILE notices and support channels.
- Do not use modified clients, GFX tools, unofficial configuration files, graphics unlockers, rooting, or aggressive “RAM cleaner” apps.
- Record the problem and report it if it is reproducible across networks.
A regression can affect a particular device model or operating-system version, including high-end hardware. Reinstalling repeatedly will not repair a server-side or game-build defect.
When hardware is worth considering
