If only one experience is silent, the creator may need to fix it. If all Roblox experiences are silent, check the output device and Roblox’s app volume. If game sounds work but player voices do not, troubleshoot Voice Chat separately. Check Roblox Status before changing settings if the problem began suddenly or affects multiple experiences.
Run these quick checks first
- Test another experience. Try two unrelated experiences if possible. Sound in one but not another points toward an experience or server issue, not necessarily your device.
- Check the experience and Roblox volume. Open the in-experience menu (usually Esc on a computer, or the Roblox/menu button on mobile or console), choose Settings, and look for a volume or audio control. Raise it and check for a mute setting. Labels and controls vary by platform and client; an experience may also have its own music, effects, or mute controls.
- Check the active output. Confirm that sound is routed to the speakers or headset you are using. Disconnect and reconnect the headset, and check its physical mute and volume controls.
- Check app-specific volume. On a computer, keep Roblox open while checking the operating system’s volume mixer. Make sure Roblox is not muted and is assigned to the intended output.
- Fully quit and reopen Roblox. If you changed devices, reconnect the headset first, confirm the output, then relaunch Roblox and test again.
- Check Roblox Status. If Games or Player is degraded, wait for the incident to be resolved. An operational status does not rule out a single-experience, account, or device problem.
Roblox’s general connection guidance distinguishes client issues from a defective experience that its creator may need to repair.
Fix Roblox audio on Windows
If Windows sounds work but Roblox does not, check Roblox’s app volume and output assignment before changing drivers. Microsoft lists per-app volume, output-device selection, audio services, and drivers among possible causes of app-only sound failures.
- Start Roblox and join an experience.
- Open Windows sound settings and confirm the selected output device, such as your headset rather than a monitor.
- Open the volume mixer and find Roblox. Raise its volume and make sure it is not muted.
- If the mixer allows per-app output selection, assign Roblox to the device you intend to use.
- Close and relaunch Roblox, then test again. If sound is still absent, follow Microsoft’s app-audio troubleshooting steps and general Windows audio troubleshooting.
Those instructions are general Windows guidance, not Roblox-specific fixes, and exact paths can vary by Windows version. Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025; consult its current guidance for the Windows edition you use.

Fix Roblox audio on Mac
- Open System Settings → Sound → Output and select the speakers or headset you want to use. Check the output volume and mute state.
- If you use Bluetooth, check whether the selected output changes when Roblox starts. Test with the built-in speakers or a wired headset to isolate a routing problem.
- Quit and reopen Roblox after changing the output. If you play through a browser, check that the Roblox tab or site is not muted.
If these checks do not help, use Roblox’s computer support section or its platform troubleshooting hub, which includes Mac-specific guidance.
Fix Roblox audio on iPhone, iPad, or Android
- While Roblox is open, raise the device’s hardware volume. Check any mute or silent controls on the device.
- Check whether audio is going to Bluetooth headphones, a speaker, or AirPlay rather than the device itself. Disconnect Bluetooth or AirPlay temporarily to test the built-in speakers.
- Fully close and reopen Roblox. If the issue persists, restart the device and check for app updates through its official app store.
- If only Voice Chat is affected, check Roblox’s microphone permission in the device’s settings. Microphone permission affects voice input, not ordinary game sound.

Fix Roblox audio on Xbox or PlayStation
- Check whether the sound should come through the TV or monitor, or through a headset. Confirm the console’s selected output and mute state.
- Check the headset’s physical controls and the console’s chat/game audio mix. A chat-only setting can make game audio seem missing.
- Test another game and another Roblox experience. If other console games are also silent, troubleshoot the console or headset output rather than Roblox alone.
- Fully quit and reopen Roblox after changing the output. For platform-specific help, use Roblox’s PlayStation and Xbox support sections.
If you play Roblox in a browser
Check that the Roblox tab or site is not muted, then try launching the experience in another current browser. If another browser works, test the original browser’s site permissions and extensions by temporarily disabling extensions one at a time. Re-enable anything that is not responsible. Roblox recommends trying another browser and checking security settings for general browser problems, but that is a diagnostic step—not proof that a browser setting caused the audio failure. Game sound works, but Voice Chat does not
Voice Chat is a separate feature; speaker volume alone will not resolve eligibility, connection, or microphone problems. Roblox says Voice Chat is for eligible users aged 13 or older, is not enabled by default, and requires an age check where applicable. Availability varies by region and account, and the experience must support Voice Chat. Roblox’s current guidance says phone verification is not a valid way to gain access. If you cannot hear other players
- Confirm the experience supports Voice Chat and that you are connected. Roblox says eligible users can connect through in-experience settings or a headphone icon when it appears; the interface varies by platform and account. On PlayStation, Roblox documents connecting through in-experience settings.
- Check the output device, headset volume, and any individual mute controls. Proximity-based voice can sound quieter when another player is farther away; Roblox documents proximity as the default for Voice Chat experiences, though experience behavior can vary. See Roblox’s voice chat documentation.
If other players cannot hear you
- Confirm you are connected to Voice Chat and that the microphone icon does not indicate mute. Check the headset’s physical mute and the operating system’s microphone selection.
- Allow Roblox microphone access in your device settings. This permission is needed for speaking, not for ordinary game audio.
- If the microphone works elsewhere but not in Roblox, disconnect and reconnect Voice Chat if the controls allow it, then restart Roblox and test a supported experience.
If Voice Chat disconnects or makes other audio disappear
Test with the device speakers, a wired headset, or Bluetooth disabled, then reconnect Voice Chat. If game audio returns, the symptom points toward an output-routing or headset-profile issue on that device; it does not establish that Bluetooth is generally incompatible with Roblox. If you meet the requirements but Voice Chat is missing across supported experiences, contact Roblox Support rather than using unofficial clients, registry edits, or scripts that claim to unlock it.
When only one experience is silent
- Leave and rejoin, preferably in a fresh server.
- Check the experience’s own audio, music, effects, or mute settings. Some experiences do not play continuous music, or control audio by location or event.
- Test another experience before changing your device settings.
- If the issue remains isolated, report it to the experience creator. Roblox says a defective experience may need to be repaired by its creator; see its connection guidance.
When to reinstall Roblox
Reinstallation is a later step, appropriate when Roblox is silent across experiences despite working audio elsewhere, correct output and app volume, and a restart. It may repair a damaged or misbehaving client, but will not correct a muted system mixer, defective headset, Roblox outage, broken audio in one experience, or Voice Chat eligibility restriction.

- Make sure you can sign back into your account; do not proceed if you do not know the needed login details.
- Uninstall Roblox using your platform’s normal app-management process.
- Restart the device.
- Install Roblox again from the platform’s official store or Roblox’s official installation flow, then test an experience before reinstalling third-party audio software.

Use the official Roblox Status page if audio stopped suddenly, several experiences are affected, other Roblox features are failing, or local troubleshooting has not helped. It reports service components such as Games, Player, Website, and platform apps. A degraded relevant component is a reason to wait for Roblox to resolve the incident; an all-operational report does not rule out an individual experience or client problem.
