Roblox Error Code 769 usually means a teleport or server-join transition failed. It is commonly shown as “Teleport Failed: Unknown Exception,” but Roblox’s current official error-code index does not list 769, so the number is not a precise, universally documented diagnosis. Start by checking whether the failure affects one experience or every experience: that distinction separates a broken game teleport from a problem with your client, network, or security software.
What Error Code 769 means
Code 769 appears when Roblox cannot complete a move to another place, server, private server, or experience. Possible causes include an unavailable destination, a developer teleport configuration, blocked network traffic, DNS or router problems, VPN or proxy interference, and corrupted client files. Roblox’s official error-code index currently omits 769, while its teleport documentation describes failed teleports and recommends failure handling. Treat 769 as a teleport/join failure signal, not proof of a ban or one specific fault.
The setting often mentioned online—Allow Third Party Teleports—belongs to experience developers. A player cannot enable it for somebody else’s game.
First, identify where the failure occurs

Quick fixes for players
1. Check Roblox and the individual experience
Check Roblox Status before changing your computer. Roblox Support directs users with platform or joining problems to this page. If the status is normal, see whether friends can make the same teleport and whether another destination in the same experience works. A broken place or event cannot be repaired from your PC.

2. Restart Roblox completely
- Leave the experience and close every Roblox window.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Windows Task Manager.
- End any remaining Roblox processes.
- Reopen Roblox from the official website or app and retry the same teleport.
3. Restart your router and test another connection
- Close Roblox and restart the router or modem.
- If unplugging it, wait about 30 seconds before reconnecting power.
- Wait for internet service to return, then retry.
- If possible, test Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi or use a phone hotspot.
Roblox identifies inconsistent wireless connections, low bandwidth, and blocked traffic as common connection problems; restarting only tests whether your local network state is involved.
4. Temporarily remove network filters
Turn off VPN software, proxy settings, DNS-filtering services, parental-control filters, school or work filtering, antivirus “web protection,” and aggressive browser extensions. Restart Roblox and test. If that resolves the error, re-enable services one at a time to find the conflict. Roblox notes that VPN use can affect account-location detection (support guidance).
Check Windows firewall, antivirus, and ports
Roblox says firewall and security software can block its internet access. In your security product, look for Firewall, App permissions, Allowed apps, or Exceptions, then allow the official Roblox application and launcher. Menus differ by Windows version and vendor. If a file was quarantined, confirm the detection with the antivirus vendor before restoring it.
Allow only the genuine Roblox executable and restore protection after testing. Roblox’s Windows files are under C:Users<Your Windows Username>AppDataLocalRoblox (also reachable as %localappdata%Roblox), according to its third-party application guidance.

Roblox says blocked UDP traffic can cause failures and documents dynamically assigned ports, including the current support range 49152–65535 in its connection guidance. Ordinary players should not broadly forward this range or disable router security; ask a network administrator when a managed network is blocking traffic.
Flush DNS, then optionally test another DNS provider
Flushing DNS is a general Windows diagnostic, not an official Error 769-specific fix.
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run
ipconfig /flushdns. - Wait for the successful confirmation, restart Roblox, and retry.
If the error remains, you can temporarily change the network adapter to a public resolver to test an ISP DNS problem:

These are provider addresses, not Roblox requirements. Return the adapter to automatic DNS if the test makes no difference. DNS cannot repair an outage, an invalid destination, or a developer’s disabled teleport.

Reinstall Roblox from an official source
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps and uninstall Roblox.
- Restart Windows.
- Install from the official Roblox download page or the Microsoft Store listing.
- Sign in and test a known-good experience before retrying the original destination.
Roblox’s desktop troubleshooting recommends rebooting, checking temporary files and firewall settings, and reinstalling when problems persist. Do not download DLLs, “repair” utilities, executors, modified clients, or unofficial launchers; Roblox warns that modified software and unsupported emulators can create security and anti-cheat problems (anti-cheat guidance).
For developers: check teleport permissions and implementation
Enable third-party teleports when your design requires them
If your experience sends players to places or servers outside the expected experience context, inspect the Studio security setting commonly labeled Allow Third Party Teleports:
Roblox Studio → Game Settings → Security → Allow Third Party Teleports → On → Save
Studio labels can change. This is a developer control, not a player-side repair. Consult the current TeleportService documentation.

Validate the destination and handle failure
- Confirm the destination place ID is correct, published, and accessible to the intended audience.
- Check that reserved-server access codes are valid and have not expired or been reused incorrectly.
- Call teleport APIs from the appropriate server-side context.
- Wrap calls in protected calls and handle
TeleportService.TeleportInitFailed. - Retry transient failures with a limit and backoff; never create an infinite retry loop.
Do not interpret Studio testing as a live-player result
Roblox states that TeleportService does not support ordinary playtesting in Roblox Studio. Publish and test in an appropriate live or test environment before treating a Studio result as evidence of a player-facing Error 769.

On Windows, launching the official Roblox client with administrator privileges is a low-confidence diagnostic for a local permissions problem. It is not a standard Roblox fix and cannot repair a server-side or developer-side teleport. Do not permanently disable Windows security controls or keep Roblox elevated unless you have a specific, understood reason.
When to contact Roblox Support
Contact Roblox Support when Error 769 affects multiple unrelated experiences, persists on another network after a reinstall and firewall check, or began after an update for several users. Include:
- Your Roblox username, device, and operating system
- The exact message and error number
- Experience URL, destination, and private-server details if relevant
- Date and time of failure, including time zone
- Whether one experience or all experiences are affected
- Networks tested and each troubleshooting step attempted
- A screenshot or screen recording

Does Error 769 mean I am banned?
No. The available Roblox guidance supports a teleport, connection, destination, or configuration failure—not an account penalty.

Can a player enable Allow Third Party Teleports?
No. It is an experience security setting controlled by the developer.
Will changing DNS always fix Error 769?
No. It can test an ISP resolver problem, but it cannot fix an outage, broken destination, or developer configuration.
Does reinstalling Roblox delete my account or Robux?
No. Reinstalling the official client does not delete your Roblox account or its cloud-held items.
Can Roblox Studio test TeleportService normally?
No. Roblox states that ordinary Studio playtesting does not support TeleportService; test a published experience instead.
