What Roblox Error 905 may mean
Roblox does not currently publish a definition for code 905. Its official error-code list covers other codes and advises contacting support if a code is not listed. Players have reported seeing 905, but historical troubleshooting coverage associates it mainly with Xbox One and Roblox/Xbox account-linking or sign-in trouble—not with a confirmed, universal Roblox error. The reports are historical, and the code may be platform-specific or may have changed since they were published. Current evidence does not establish that 905 has the same meaning on PC, mobile, PlayStation, or Roblox Studio. Roblox provides separate technical support categories by device.

Confirm the exact code and where it appears
Write down or capture the full message, confirm that it says 905, and note the device and what you were doing when it appeared: launching Roblox, signing in, linking accounts, or joining an experience. Record your Roblox username and Xbox gamertag as well. If the number is different, use the help for that exact code rather than assuming the 905 steps apply.

Check Roblox service status
Check Roblox’s live status page before reinstalling or changing account links. Roblox says outages or maintenance can cause problems joining experiences and using its applications or platform; see what happens when Roblox is down. If an incident affects the relevant service, wait for it to be resolved and retry. An operational status does not rule out a regional or account-specific issue.

Check Xbox services
Since the historical 905 reports concern Xbox, check Microsoft/Xbox service status using the official status page available for your region before troubleshooting the console. A platform outage will not be fixed by reinstalling Roblox. The historical reports recommend checking Xbox services but do not establish an official Microsoft definition for code 905.

Verify which accounts are signed in
Make sure the intended Xbox/Microsoft profile is active and that you are using the Roblox account you mean to associate with it. If several Xbox profiles are in use, sign out of the unused ones while testing. Check whether the Roblox account may already be linked to another Xbox profile. If you recently changed your Roblox password or are unsure of it, recover access before disconnecting anything. Do not create a new Roblox account as a shortcut; it will not carry over the existing account’s items, Robux, or history.
Historical troubleshooting coverage suggests checking credentials, but that is not an officially documented 905-specific fix. If parental controls or child-account restrictions apply, ask the parent or account holder to review the settings with Roblox or Xbox support; do not try to bypass them.

Restart the console
Close Roblox, press the Xbox button, and choose the console’s restart option from the power menu. When the console starts again, confirm the intended Xbox profile is signed in and launch Roblox. This is a low-risk preliminary step, not a verified 905-specific remedy.

Reinstall Roblox if the problem appears local to the app
On Xbox, open My games & apps, highlight Roblox, press the controller’s Menu button, and choose Uninstall. Then reinstall Roblox from the Xbox store and sign in again. Menu wording and locations can vary by console generation, system update, and language; use the current equivalent if the labels differ. This is a reported general client-repair step, not a guaranteed fix for 905. Reinstalling may help with damaged app files or a failed update, but it cannot resolve an outage or a server-side account-linking issue.

Test another experience
If 905 appears only when you try one Roblox experience, try a different one and, if possible, ask whether another player can join the affected experience. Roblox’s general connection guidance notes that an individual experience may be unavailable or have a creator-side problem. A failure limited to one experience does not by itself point to an Xbox account-link problem.

Disconnect and reconnect the Xbox link only if needed
Older troubleshooting reports describe disconnecting and reconnecting the Roblox/Xbox association as a possible workaround; Roblox does not document it as a 905 fix. Before proceeding, make sure you know the Roblox login details. Disconnecting may sign you out, and repeatedly switching profiles or linking and unlinking can make it harder to determine which accounts are paired.

If your current Roblox account settings still show an Xbox connection, look for it under account Settings and Security, then choose Disconnect. Alternatively, the console’s Settings and Account menus may offer an unlink option. The exact labels can change; use the current equivalent rather than relying on an old menu path. After disconnecting, sign out of Roblox on Xbox, confirm that the intended gamertag is active, and sign in with the Roblox account you want associated with that profile. Test before switching profiles again. If you cannot sign back in to Roblox, use account recovery rather than creating another account.
If 905 appears on PC, mobile, or PlayStation
The available 905-specific reports concern Xbox One, so their account-link steps may not apply to another device. Confirm the exact code and message, record the device and the action that triggered it, and consult the appropriate Roblox device support area. Because 905 is absent from Roblox’s published code list, contact Roblox Support if the message persists rather than treating the Xbox guidance as universal.
When to contact Roblox Support
If the code remains after you check services and try the relevant steps, use Roblox Support. Roblox’s error-code reference specifically directs users to support for codes it does not list. Include enough detail to distinguish an account problem from a console, app, or experience issue:

- Your Xbox gamertag, the complete error message, and a screenshot or recording.
- When the error began and whether it happens during launch, sign-in, linking, or joining a particular experience.
- Whether Roblox works on another device or in another experience.
- Your Xbox system version and Roblox app version, if visible.
- Whether you checked service status, restarted or reinstalled the app, and changed the account link.
Do not give your password, backup codes, cookies, or payment details to an unofficial repair service. Use Roblox’s support channel for account-specific help.
