First work out whether Battlefront II is visibly stuttering on your PC or multiplayer actions are arriving late or inconsistently: those symptoms point to different problems. Check EA service status, close unnecessary apps, restart your router, and compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection before changing advanced settings. The steps below help narrow down the cause without assuming every hitch is an internet problem.
Is it network lag or PC stuttering?
Watch for the difference during a match. If the image itself freezes, skips, or stutters while you play, investigate local PC performance. If the picture remains smooth but movement, hits, or other players’ actions seem delayed or inconsistent, investigate the connection. The symptoms can overlap, so treat this as a useful first distinction rather than a definitive diagnosis.
- Visual stutter: The game’s display hitches or frame delivery feels uneven.
- Online delay: Multiplayer actions or other players’ movement do not respond consistently, even when the display looks smooth.
- Both: Test the PC and connection separately; one symptom does not rule out the other.
Check EA service and account access
Before changing your PC or router, check EA’s service-status guidance. EA notes that service availability can affect online play and that servers for some older games may be shut down. This guidance does not establish Battlefront II’s current live server status, so do not assume a local fault if the service is unavailable.
If you cannot access multiplayer at all, rather than merely experiencing delay, check your EA Account status. EA says a banned, suspended, deactivated, or deleted account cannot play online. If the account is already in use, EA also suggests logging out on other devices and logging in again.

Reduce load on the PC
Close unnecessary applications
Close apps you do not need, then retry a match. EA notes that running applications use processing power and memory, and that many open applications can slow a computer. This is a low-risk check when the game is stuttering or the PC is under load.

Consider the historical DirectX 12 micro-stutter report
In a historical Battlefront II forum post, EA community administrator EA_David said some players using DirectX 12 could see micro-stuttering or other performance issues and recommended DirectX 11 at that time. That post is not proof that DirectX 12 is the cause of a current problem or that the same recommendation applies to every current setup. Check current Battlefront II support guidance before changing the game’s DirectX setting.
Restart the router and compare wired with Wi-Fi
Power-cycle the router
- Turn off the router and unplug it from power.
- Wait about one minute.
- Reconnect the power, turn the router on, and retry the game once the connection is available.
Use the router’s manual if its controls or restart procedure differ. EA recommends contacting your internet service provider (ISP) if you are not comfortable making advanced network changes.

Test with Ethernet
If the PC is on Wi-Fi, connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable for a diagnostic test. EA says, “Hardwired connections can be much more reliable than wireless ones.” If play improves when wired, Wi-Fi conditions may be contributing; if it does not, the cause may lie elsewhere. A wired test is not a guaranteed fix.
If Wi-Fi is still the likely cause
Check the conditions between the PC and router before buying new equipment or changing advanced settings:

- Place the router in an open area and reasonably close to the PC.
- Check whether the Wi-Fi signal is weak where you play.
- Consider whether walls, large objects, or nearby electronics could be interfering with the signal.
- In a crowded area, nearby wireless networks may contribute to channel congestion. EA suggests asking your ISP for help switching to a less busy wireless channel.
These checks help identify a weak or crowded wireless link; none establishes that Wi-Fi is the cause without comparing the result with a wired test.

EA says a different DNS service may help if the current DNS is unreliable and lists Google DNS and OpenDNS as options, while noting that EA does not operate those services. Treat a DNS change as optional and later in the troubleshooting process, not as a first fix for every kind of multiplayer lag.

Do not open router ports based on an old list or forum post. A current definitive Battlefront II PC port list is not established by EA’s cited guidance here. Likewise, no universal bandwidth minimum or latency threshold is established, so a number without a relevant source would not diagnose this problem.
When to contact EA or your ISP
Contact your ISP if the connection remains unreliable across online activities, if Wi-Fi signal or channel conditions need investigation, or if you are not comfortable changing network settings. Use EA’s Battlefront II support route if the issue appears limited to the game, account access is blocked, or you need help with PC diagnostics.
When asking for help, describe whether the problem is visual stuttering, delayed or inconsistent multiplayer response, or both; say whether it occurs only in Battlefront II; and note whether a wired test changed the behavior. These details help direct troubleshooting without treating a frame hitch as proof of a network fault.
