If UFL keeps crashing on PS5, first check that the game and console software are up to date, then restart the console and test whether other games crash too. These are PlayStation’s general troubleshooting steps—not a confirmed fix for a specific UFL bug. If only UFL fails, report the problem to UFL Support with the error message and steps that reproduce it.
Start by identifying what the crash looks like
Before changing anything, note whether UFL closes to the PS5 home screen, freezes, shows an error code, or drops your connection. Record when it happens—for example, on startup or during a match—and whether it began after a game update. A screenshot or short video can help support teams investigate.
Try these PS5 troubleshooting steps
- Confirm installation and updates. Make sure UFL has finished downloading and installing. Check for a UFL update, then check for a PS5 system software update. PlayStation includes these checks in its game-crash guidance.
- Restart the PS5. If UFL crashes on startup, PlayStation also recommends restoring licenses. If UFL is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the console’s internal storage; see PlayStation’s game startup troubleshooting.
- Test whether a save may be involved. If practical, try starting fresh to check for possible save corruption. This is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed fix. If the problem continues, delete and reinstall UFL, following PlayStation’s general game-crash guidance.
- For startup failures, try Safe Mode options. PlayStation lists clearing the cache and rebuilding the database as additional troubleshooting steps. Resetting the PS5 or reinstalling system software is more disruptive; back up your data and follow Sony’s current instructions before considering either.
- Test another game. This helps distinguish a UFL-only problem from a broader console issue.
Work out whether the problem is UFL-only
If several games crash, PlayStation says the console may have a problem; contact PlayStation Support or follow its repair guidance. If UFL is the only game affected—particularly if the crash occurs during online play—PlayStation advises contacting the game’s publisher to ask about known issues.
A Reddit user reported UFL freezing on PS5 after an update on 24 August 2026, and a reply directed them to UFL Support. That is an individual report, not confirmation of a widespread defect or a working fix. UFL’s official bug-report article also does not confirm a current PS5 crash incident.

Report a UFL crash to the support team
UFL’s bug-report instructions say to open a support request, choose “Bugs and glitches,” fill in the applicable fields, attach a screenshot or video, and submit. The article says you can log into the portal with a PSN or Xbox account. Include details that help the team reproduce the issue:
- PS5 model, if known, and the UFL version if visible
- PS5 system software version
- The exact error message or code—or a note that no message appeared
- What you were doing immediately before the crash, and whether it happens every time
- Whether other games are affected
- Troubleshooting steps you have already tried
- A short screenshot or video, when available
PlayStation likewise asks players reporting crashes to provide the error code or message, a detailed description, reproduction steps, and a screenshot or video when possible. UFL Support’s article, updated 30 October 2025, says: “If you encounter an issue with the game, please report it to our support team so we can investigate and fix it as soon as possible.”
