First identify what stops: VLC’s local playlist, or a broadcast VLC is sending through its VideoLAN Manager (VLM). For local playback, enable whole-playlist looping—not repeat-current-track. For a VLM broadcast, check that the channel has all the song inputs in sequence and that its loop option is enabled if the list should restart. These are different controls, so the right fix depends on where playback is managed.
Indian music does not require a special VLC setting. The same diagnosis applies whether the playlist contains bhajans, kirtan, Gurbani, Hindi music, or other recordings.
Identify which part of the stream stops
When someone says “VLC stops after the last song,” they may mean the local VLC player has finished its playlist, the VLM broadcast has ended, or listeners lose the outgoing stream at a song change. Work out which event is happening before changing settings.
- Only the computer’s VLC playback stops at the final track: check the local playlist mode.
- The outgoing broadcast ends after the final track: check the VLM channel’s inputs and loop setting.
- Listeners lose the stream between songs: check the VLM stream-output configuration, especially whether output is kept across track transitions.
- The setup does not match these cases: note the VLC version, operating system, source type, playlist format, and whether playback stops for the broadcaster or remote listeners. Those details are needed to narrow the cause.
VLC’s documentation describes separate local playlist controls and VLM broadcast controls. Its desktop VLM example is for VLC 3.0; menu labels and behavior can differ by installed version and operating system.

Fix a local VLC playlist that stops at the end
Set the playback mode to loop the whole playlist. Do not choose the control that repeats only the current song: that keeps one track playing instead of moving through the list and starting again from the beginning.
- Open the playlist in VLC and locate its playback-mode controls. The exact placement and label depend on the VLC version and operating system.
- Choose the mode for looping or repeating the entire playlist, rather than repeating the current item. VLC documents these as distinct controls in its playlist API and HTTP interface.
- Test with a short playlist: let the final item finish and confirm VLC starts the first item again.
If the goal is for listeners to hear continuous music, confirm that the outgoing broadcast also remains active. Looping local playback by itself does not establish that a separate broadcaster or streaming output is configured to continue.

Fix a VLM broadcast that ends after its last song
VLM is VLC’s broadcast manager. In a VLM playlist broadcast, the channel needs the intended song inputs in sequence. VLC’s VLC 3.0 playlist-broadcast example shows a channel with successive song inputs and explains that VLM proceeds to the next input when the earlier one ends.
- Inspect the VLM channel definition or configuration and confirm that every intended song is listed as an input in the desired order.
- Confirm that the channel is configured to advance to the next input when the current song finishes. Compare the setup with VideoLAN’s documented multi-song example.
- If the list should begin again after its final song, enable the VLM broadcast loop option. The VLM documentation describes this option as restarting the input list after it finishes.
- Start the channel and observe a complete pass through the list, including the transition from the last input back to the first.
These instructions apply to a VLM broadcast, not to the repeat controls for a local playlist. If you are using another tool to send a live stream while VLC only supplies playback, check that tool’s behavior as well.

Keep a VLM stream output from breaking between songs
If the broadcast drops at every track boundary rather than only ending after the final song, compare its output configuration with VLC’s official VLM example. That example includes sout-keep so the stream output does not break when one song ends. This recommendation is specific to the documented VLM multi-input broadcast configuration; it is not a general fix for every local-playback problem.
After making a change, test a transition between two songs and check the stream from a listener’s device. A playlist that advances correctly on the broadcaster’s computer can still have a separate output or connection problem.

Check scripts and other playback setups
VLC launched by a script
Review the launch arguments and any automation that runs when playback ends. A play-and-exit or quit-at-end instruction is meant to close VLC at the end of playback; if present, it could explain why the player closes. Verify the exact option against the help for your installed VLC version before changing it.
Setup is unclear or still stops
Collect the VLC version, operating system, source type (local files or a URL), playlist format, and relevant VLC or VLM log messages. Also record whether the local player stops, the broadcaster loses its stream, or remote listeners lose playback. Without those details, there is no single reliable menu path or setting to prescribe.

Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep prerecorded Indian music playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option rather than a fix for VLC’s local playlist controls. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
- Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding.
- It can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
- UPI and cards are supported in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Plans are available by day, week, month, six months, or year, and can be cancelled any time.

Common symptoms and fixes
| What happens | Likely area to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| VLC stops after the final track, but no broadcast is involved | Local playlist mode | Choose whole-playlist loop, not repeat-current-item. |
| The VLM broadcast ends after the final song | Channel inputs or VLM loop option | Check the sequence of inputs and enable broadcast looping if the list should restart. |
| Listeners lose playback at each song transition | VLM stream output | Compare the output setup with the documented sout-keep example. |
| VLC closes when playback ends | Script or automation arguments | Look for a play-and-exit or quit-at-end instruction and verify it against installed-version help. |
| The symptoms do not match these cases | Version, OS, source, or output path | Record those details and relevant logs before changing more settings. |
Music rights and stream continuity
Looping a playlist solves a playback-continuity problem; it does not establish that the channel has permission to stream the recordings. Before broadcasting Indian music, check that you have the rights or authorization needed for the specific recordings and intended use, and review the platform’s applicable rules. A song playing successfully in VLC is not proof that it is cleared for a public live stream.
