If YouTube Live reports low audio bitrate, set the encoder’s stereo audio bitrate to 128 Kbps, use AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz, and make sure it sends exactly one audio stream. Test the configuration and review stream health before the public broadcast. The warning by itself does not prove that a microphone, mixer, interface, or cable is faulty.
What the low-audio-bitrate warning means
YouTube Live Control Room displays ingestion errors alongside the stream health indicator. Its error guidance identifies audio bitrate below the recommended value as a problem and recommends 128 Kbps. It also flags an incorrect sample rate, unsupported audio codec, missing audio, and multiple audio streams as possible audio-setting errors (YouTube Live streaming error messages).
The recommended audio settings do not change because a program is in Telugu or contains devotional music. Configure them for the stream’s channel setup and YouTube’s encoder guidance, rather than its language or genre. YouTube lists 128 Kbps for stereo audio and supports AAC or MP3 over RTMP/RTMPS; its guidance lists 44.1 kHz for stereo (Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions).
Fix the encoder settings
Menu names vary by software or hardware encoder, and the encoder is not specified here. Look in its audio or stream-output settings for bitrate, codec, sample rate, and audio-track controls.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Set stereo audio bitrate to 128 Kbps. This is YouTube’s listed stereo setting and its recommendation for resolving a low audio bitrate warning.
- Select AAC or MP3. These are the audio codecs YouTube lists for RTMP/RTMPS live encoding.
- Set the stereo sample rate to 44.1 kHz. Check that the encoder is not using a different rate.
- Enable audio and send one audio stream. Confirm audio is present and that the encoder is not outputting multiple audio streams.
- Test before broadcasting publicly. Use representative program audio, check the encoder’s output and the Live Control Room preview, and review stream-health messages. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health during an event.
If the warning clears but the sound is still poor
Check the audio source and encoder
Confirm the intended playback device, microphone, mixer, or interface is selected, and that the encoder’s audio meters move during the test. Review encoder errors and CPU load. If the encoder saves a local archive, listen to it: a faulty local recording points toward the audio source or encoding path, rather than a problem unique to YouTube delivery. YouTube also suggests trying another encoder if local stream output remains faulty (Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).
Check the connection if local output sounds right
If the stream sounds healthy in the encoder or local archive but viewers still report problems, test the outbound internet connection. YouTube recommends a speed test and contacting the internet service provider if the connection has problems. Its streaming tips say total stream bitrate should fit available upload bandwidth and recommend leaving 20% headroom (YouTube streaming tips).

A connection issue can disrupt delivery, but raising audio bitrate above YouTube’s stated setting is not the fix. First check the exact health message and the encoder’s actual audio output; keep the total stream bitrate within available upload capacity.
