Horadric Knowledge was Diablo 4’s seasonal reputation for Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. During that season, players earned it from enemies and bosses or exchanged Horadric Phials at the Horadric Lapidary, then claimed reputation-track rewards at the Horadric Focus in Cerrigar. It was not a permanent currency: check the live season and patch information before looking for it in the current game.
Was Horadric Knowledge available outside Season 9?
No. Blizzard described Horadric Knowledge as a Season 9-exclusive seasonal reputation. Some related dungeon features, including Horadric Strongrooms and Escalating Nightmares, were permanent Nightmare Dungeon updates, but that did not make the reputation system permanent. Blizzard’s 2026 Season of Reckoning announcement describes a different seasonal structure and does not announce Horadric Knowledge’s return. Check the official Diablo IV news and the live game before expecting to earn or spend it.
How to unlock Horadric Knowledge in Season 9
- Complete the Diablo IV base-game campaign.
- Create a character on the Seasonal Realm.
- Find Bryona in Cerrigar, northwest of the Waypoint, and begin the Season 9 questline.
- Follow the questline to unlock the Horadric Focus in Cerrigar. Use it to view Horadric Knowledge reputation progress and claim rewards on the Seasonal Reputation Track.
These were Season 9 requirements and locations, not instructions for a currently active reputation system. Blizzard’s Season 9 guide explains the original unlock.
How to earn Horadric Knowledge
On the Seasonal Realm, Blizzard listed direct Knowledge sources as Mummified Horadrim in Horadric Strongrooms, Elite Enemies, and bosses. Lair Bosses also awarded Knowledge, but players had to unlock the relevant Hoard after defeating the boss to claim it.

The Horadric Wayfinder, obtained through the questline, helped locate Strongrooms hidden inside Nightmare Dungeons. Strongrooms and Escalating Nightmares were dungeon content; Horadric Knowledge remained Season 9 seasonal reputation.
How Horadric Phials worked
Phials offered another way to build reputation. In Season 9, Blizzard listed Nightmare Dungeons, Nightmare Escalations, Horadric Strongrooms, and Lair Boss Horde Chests as Phial sources. At the Horadric Lapidary, players could exchange Phials for Horadric Knowledge or use them to craft Horadric Jewels.

Blizzard’s Season 9 exchange update gave a historical example: Substantial Horadric Knowledge granted 4,000 Knowledge for 2,000 Phials. The improved exchange rate was in effect only until the end of Season 9; it is not evidence of a current or recurring rate. See Blizzard’s exchange update for that season-era change.

Blizzard did not publish enough information here to establish a fastest route, per-enemy amounts, or drop rates, so there is no supported basis for ranking these options by speed.

What Horadric Knowledge was used for
Knowledge advanced the Season 9 Seasonal Reputation Track. Visit the Horadric Focus in Cerrigar to see progress and claim its available rewards. Phials also had a separate use at the Lapidary: crafting Horadric Jewels. Horadric Knowledge, Spellcraft, and Horadric Jewels were identified as Season 9-exclusive features, even though some associated dungeon updates continued beyond that season.
