How to Get and Use the Loong Scales in Black Myth: Wukong

In Black Myth: Wukong, the Loong Scales are a reusable key item hidden behind a breakable wall in Chapter 2’s Village of Despair. Find them in the First Prince of Flowing Sands arena, then use them to access optional Loong boss encounters across the game.

Where to find the Loong Scales

1. Travel to Sandgate Village in Chapter 2, Yellow Wind Ridge, and reach the Village of Despair shrine.
2. Enter the cave beside the shrine and proceed to the First Prince of Flowing Sands arena.
3. Look for the unusual destructible wall in the arena. A chest behind it contains the Loong Scales.

This route and the item location are reported by PowerPyx in its guide dated August 23, 2024. The guide does not identify a game patch or version, so these instructions are not tied to a specified version.

How to break the wall

PowerPyx describes three ways to open the wall. Choose based on whether you are still fighting the First Prince or already have the relevant spirit or transformation:

If you have already defeated the First Prince without opening the wall, the guide lists the Wandering Wight and Azure Dust methods as alternatives. It does not compare their difficulty or success rates.

What the Loong Scales unlock

The scales are associated with four optional Loong encounters. PowerPyx lists them in this order:

• Red Loong: Chapter 1.
• Black Loong: Chapter 2.
• Cyan Loong: Chapter 3.
• Yellow Loong: Chapter 4.

The guide states that Yellow Loong appears only after you defeat Red, Black, and Cyan Loong. It also reports that the scales remain in your inventory after use, so you can use the item repeatedly for the encounters rather than consuming it.

What “Loong Scales” means here

This guide is about the hidden key item in Black Myth: Wukong. “Loong scales” also appears in an unrelated ANTA clothing-design context; that usage does not refer to the game item. More broadly, a 2024 peer-reviewed cultural study describes the loong as a composite figure and includes the phrase “scales are like fish.” That general cultural discussion does not establish the game creators’ intent for the item.
