To get a Bastion Cell, destroy a Bastion and salvage the remains. Solo success depends on choosing hard cover, forcing the right weak-point window, and having an extraction route ready before the final shot.
What each Cell comes from
Bombardier Cell
The Bombardier Cell is salvage from a destroyed Bombardier. You must complete the kill, search the wreck, and take the cell before leaving the area.
Bastion Cell
The Bastion Cell is obtained by salvaging a destroyed Bastion. It is not a random drop from ordinary ARC enemies.
How many Cells you need for upgrades
PC Gamer’s 2025 upgrade guide lists these workshop costs:

Solo Bastion strategy
A Bastion is easiest to handle by interrupting its movement, then attacking the power core from behind. Do not begin the fight until you know where you will break line of sight.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
- Pick cover first. Use a building, checkpoint interior, stairwell, or another position that lets you disappear while the Bastion fires. You need a route from that cover to a rear angle, not just a wall that leaves you trapped.
- Shoot the legs or knees. PC Gamer recommends Ferro or Anvil fire against the legs. Damage a leg or knee until the Bastion staggers and its movement is interrupted.
- Use the stagger to reposition. Move while the machine is recovering instead of standing in the open to trade damage. Circle through your planned flank route.
- Hit the rear power core. The rear core is the high-value weak point identified by current strategy coverage. Fire from behind while the Bastion is recovering, then return to cover before it reacquires you.
- Loot briefly and leave. A reported fast kill used three knee shots, three rear-core shots, and a final shot into exposed internals. Treat that as one observed example, not a universal shot count: weapon, armor state, and patches can change the result.
Solo Bombardier strategy
Bombardier fights punish open ground because of mortar fire and are complicated by Spotter support. Your goal is to deny the mortar angle, control the drones, and expose the rear cylinder.
- Fight under a roof or hard cover. Use an interior, overhang, or roofed room that blocks the mortar’s splash. Do not peek through a wide opening longer than necessary.
- Deal with Spotters. Remove Spotters or break their tracking before committing to a long damage cycle. A live Spotter can keep pressure on you while the Bombardier forces you out of cover.
- Make it turn. A lure grenade, a controlled peek, or a flank can pull the Bombardier away from you and expose its rear cylinder. Shoot during its attack recovery, then retreat while it searches.
- Repeat short damage cycles. Do not remain exposed trying to finish the machine in one magazine. Reset behind cover, check for other Raiders, and create another rear-angle opportunity.
Weapons and positioning choices
| Fight | Opening target | Best solo position | Weapons cited for the matchup | Main danger |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bastion | Leg or knee, followed by rear power core | Room, checkpoint, stairwell, or hard cover with a flank route | Ferro, Anvil, Hullcracker; explosives as backup | Heavy armor and direct pressure while you flank |
| Bombardier | Rear cylinder after a turn or distraction | Roofed room or overhang that blocks mortar splash | Hullcracker, Ferro, Anvil, heavy grenades, or Wolfpacks | Mortar fire, Spotters, and exposure at openings |
Hullcracker is the most directly specialized option mentioned in the cited guides. Ferro and Anvil remain practical alternatives when that weapon or suitable ammunition is unavailable. These are tactical recommendations, not guaranteed damage values.

Where to attempt a solo kill
Published trial guidance repeatedly points to Buried City, especially Plaza Rosa, Marano Park, and the street beside the Parking Garage, for Bastion attempts. Community players also describe Blue Gate’s circular Headhouse, checkpoint interiors, underground car parks, and elevator or stairwell corridors as manageable arenas.
The community locations are anecdotal rather than guaranteed spawn points. Map rotations, exact spawns, and enemy behavior can change after patches, so treat them as places to look for usable geometry, not permanent farming coordinates.

Extraction discipline after the kill
Other Raiders may hear or notice a heavy ARC fight and arrive after the wreck is created. Before firing the final damage shot, identify the extraction route and the next piece of cover. Once the Bastion or Bombardier dies, search quickly, take the Cell, and move rather than lingering in the inventory beside the wreck.
