Use Daily Adventure Incense while you move: Pokémon GO announced shiny Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres as possible incense encounters in October 2024. The game has not published their shiny odds. A report published when the shinies were released says they do not flee like ordinary Galarian birds, but Pokémon GO’s official announcement does not confirm that behavior.
How to encounter shiny Galarian birds
Activate Daily Adventure Incense and keep moving while it is active. Pokémon GO announced that Shiny Galarian Articuno, Shiny Galarian Zapdos, and Shiny Galarian Moltres could appear through Daily Adventure Incense during the Galarian Expedition, which ran October 4–11, 2024, local time. The announcement said the update to the incense encounter pool would continue permanently after the event.
The announcement describes a shiny encounter as a matter of luck—“if you’re very lucky!”—but gives no numeric shiny rate. There is no published figure here to estimate how long an encounter might take, and no verified route, weather condition, or other tactic established to improve the odds. How Daily Adventure Incense works
Pokémon GO’s instructions say each player receives one Daily Adventure Incense per day and can hold only one at a time. It lasts 15 minutes after activation, and wild Pokémon are attracted while you are moving. See the official Daily Adventure Incense instructions.

- Before activating it, check that you have Poké Balls, Great Balls, or Ultra Balls available for encounters.
- Start the incense when you have time to play and can walk safely.
- Keep moving while the incense is active, then tap any Galarian bird encounter and try to catch it.
If you have 30 or fewer total Poké Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls when you activate the incense, the game grants 30 Poké Balls. If your combined total is above 30, this grant is not provided.
Will a shiny Galarian bird run away?
Pokémon GO’s official shiny announcement does not say whether shiny Galarian birds can flee. Pokémon GO Hub reported at the time of the October 2024 release that shiny Galarian birds do not flee like ordinary Galarian birds. That is secondary reporting, not an official guarantee. Reported not to flee does not mean guaranteed or instant capture. You may need more than one throw, so make sure you have balls available before starting an encounter; running out can still end your chance to catch it.

The available official announcement and incense instructions do not specify a required ball type or guarantee that a regular Poké Ball will catch a shiny bird. Have balls ready and be prepared to make multiple attempts rather than treating the shiny encounter as an automatic catch.
