Start with the opening quest
Follow the opening quest sequence rather than trying to plan a fixed day-by-day route. A community getting-started reference says this sequence unlocks Build Mode and the Island Life app, but it does not establish a reliable timetable for when those unlocks happen. Keep useful materials instead of selling everything
Softwood, stone, and plant fiber are identified in a beginner guide as useful early crafting materials. Hold on to a reserve so you can respond to recipes and upgrades as they become available; the guide’s advice is practical, not a rule that every player must follow. Beginner guide
Make crafting part of your early routine
Crafting provides a route to tool upgrades and machines that process gathered materials, which can make work across several activities easier. Choose an activity path that suits you
The game’s launch framing includes farming, building, exploration, and spending time with island residents; a beginner guide also covers fishing and ranching. These are options, not a required profession order. Community guidance names the following mentors as entry points:
- Crafting: Zerine
- Farming: Graminova
- Fishing: Delphin
- Ranching: Pastelle
- Exploration: Zephyria

Starsand Island is developed and published by Seed Sparkle Lab. Steam lists Version 1.0 as released on August 18, 2026, after Early Access began on February 11, 2026. The developer says Version 1.0 adds content and adjustments informed by Early Access feedback, and highlights an autumn festival with quests and special rewards connected to all five professions.
