The promotion was a limited event held in late November to early December 2024. If you claimed the reward at the time, you can still check Discord for the decoration and its current expiry or restoration status.
Can you still get Rift Butterfly in 2026?
Not through the original Quest. The Rift Butterfly was a Discord avatar decoration, not a Fortnite skin, back bling, emote, or item added to your Fortnite locker.
Contemporary reports place the promotion in late November or early December 2024. Published deadlines differ: reports cited December 5, December 6, and November 30, likely because of time-zone differences or inconsistent reporting. The safest conclusion is that the event ended in 2024, and its original claim window closed in early 2025.
There is currently no verified official information confirming a new Rift Butterfly Quest, a current Discord Shop listing, or a guaranteed way for someone who missed the promotion to obtain it. Do not treat old guides that say “accept the Quest” and “play for 15 minutes” as working 2026 instructions.

How the original Fortnite Discord Quest worked
Historical method — no longer active. The original reward process was generally described as follows:
- Open Discord and find the Fortnite Quest.
- Accept the Quest.
- Play Fortnite for 15 minutes on the platform selected in the Quest card.
- Return to Discord after the progress registered.
- Select Claim Reward.
- Apply the Rift Butterfly decoration to your Discord profile.
Historical reports also said that an Epic Games account needed to be connected to the relevant Discord account, particularly for tracking on console. The same Discord account had to accept the Quest and the same Epic account had to be used in Fortnite.

Reports disagree about the exact platform and mode support. Some described desktop or browser completion, while others said players could select desktop or console. The original Quest card determined eligibility, and it is no longer available to test. Claims about every Fortnite mode, Creative, LEGO Fortnite, or idle time counting should therefore be treated as unverified historical guidance rather than current official rules.
How to check whether you already claimed it
Desktop or browser
- Open Discord.
- Select the gear icon for User Settings.
- Open Profiles.
- Select Change Decoration.
- Look under Your Decorations for Rift Butterfly.
- Select Apply, then Save Changes.
Discord’s current profile instructions are also available in its Custom Profiles help page.
Mobile
- Tap your avatar to open the user menu.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Open Avatar Decoration.
- Select Rift Butterfly if it appears.
- Tap Apply, then Save.
Older guides may call the final prompt Apply Now or Use Now. Discord’s wording can change, so use the current profile editor rather than relying on an old screenshot.

What if the completed Quest is still visible?
For an active or previously completed Discord Quest, the current desktop path is Discover → Quests. On mobile, Discord documents the path as Settings → Quest. Open the completed Quest and choose Claim Reward if that option is available.
Discord says Discord-specific rewards are added to the account after claiming. However, the Rift Butterfly Quest is expired, so seeing an old Quest entry or finding an old notification does not guarantee that claiming will work now.
How long did Rift Butterfly last?
Quest avatar decorations are generally temporary. Discord says they are typically available for two months, although each Quest can have its own expiry terms. Historical Rift Butterfly coverage likewise described a roughly two-month usage period.

This distinction matters:
- Claiming a Quest decoration did not necessarily mean permanent ownership.
- An expired decoration may disappear from active profile customization.
- A Quest reward is different from an item bought in the Discord Shop.
Check the decoration’s own expiry information if it appears in your account. Discord’s current explanation is in its Nitro Quest Perk documentation.

Possibly for a previous claimant, but not for a new user—and not as a guarantee.
Discord says standard Nitro can restore or extend access to some previously claimed Quest decorations. You must have completed the Quest and claimed the reward before. Nitro Basic and Nitro Classic do not include this perk.

Eligibility is item-specific. Discord does not confirm that every Quest decoration qualifies, and there is no verified information confirming that Rift Butterfly is eligible as of August 18, 2026. Buying Nitro solely to obtain this decoration is therefore not a reliable solution.
If you previously claimed Rift Butterfly, check User Settings → Profiles → Change Decoration after signing into the original Discord account. If Discord marks the item as eligible, an active standard Nitro subscription may restore access without requiring you to repeat the expired Quest.
Can you buy it from the Discord Shop?
Discord’s Shop inventory changes, and limited-time items can disappear. Purchased Shop items are normally permanent, but that does not establish that every Quest reward becomes a Shop item.
No current verified official listing or price confirms that Rift Butterfly is available in the Shop. You may check the Shop directly, but do not rely on historical articles claiming permanent purchase availability, and do not buy supposed Rift Butterfly codes from third-party sellers.

Never provide a Discord token, password, QR login, or Epic Games credentials to someone promising an unlock. Downloadable “decoration unlockers,” browser scripts, and fake Nitro pages are common account-security risks.
Troubleshooting for former claimants
The Quest does not appear
- Check Discover → Quests on desktop or Settings → Quest on mobile.
- Check Profiles → Change Decoration instead of looking only in the Quest menu.
- Update or restart Discord.
- Confirm that you are using the Discord account that accepted the Quest.
- Remember that the absence of the Quest in 2026 is normally evidence that the promotion expired, not necessarily an account bug.
The decoration is missing
- Look under Your Decorations, not only in the Shop.
- Search for “Rift” or “Butterfly” if the interface provides search.
- Check the item’s expiry details.
- Confirm that you are signed into the original Discord account.
- Check whether standard Nitro currently identifies the item as eligible for restoration.
- If you have proof of a successful claim, contact Discord Support.
Progress never tracked in the old promotion
Historical reports attributed tracking problems to using the wrong Epic Games account, using a different Discord account from the one that accepted the Quest, account-linking issues, unsupported platform conditions, or starting Fortnite before accepting the Quest. These checks may explain what happened at the time, but they cannot recreate an expired Quest.
