The best current chance to catch Zorua is its Community Day on Saturday, October 10, 2026: standard Zorua will appear more often in the wild from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time. Regular Lure Modules have a very high chance to attract Zorua from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m., and lure-attracted Zorua retain an increased chance to be shiny. Neither a Zorua encounter nor a shiny is guaranteed. Check the official event announcement and in-game news for any schedule changes.
How to get Zorua in Pokémon GO
During the October 10 Community Day, you can encounter Zorua through wild spawns, regular Lure Modules, and event Field Research. The wild event window is 2:00–5:00 p.m. local time; the special lure window continues until 9:00 p.m. local time. These are event opportunities, not guaranteed encounters.
Check wild spawns during Community Day
Play during the three-hour event to find Zorua appearing more frequently than usual. The announced wild route does not require a ticket.
Use a regular Lure Module
From 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. local time, PokéStops with active regular Lure Modules have a “very high chance” of attracting Zorua, according to Niantic. The announcement does not give a percentage. This option adds four hours beyond the main wild-spawn window, but requires access to a PokéStop with an active lure.

Tap an apparent Buddy duplicate
Zorua disguises itself on the map as your current Buddy Pokémon. If you see what looks like another Buddy, tap it to begin the encounter and reveal whether it is Zorua. The disguise applies to its map appearance; it is not a separate capture method.
Check Field Research and optional Special Research
Community Day Field Research can reward Zorua encounters. An optional paid Special Research ticket is listed at US$1.99 or local equivalent and includes three Zorua encounters with Special Backgrounds plus additional Zorua encounters. It is an extra route, not a requirement for the free wild spawns.

How to get shiny Zorua
Shiny Zorua is available as a possible encounter; Niantic first announced it during Halloween 2023. During the October 10, 2026 Community Day, Niantic says players may encounter a shiny Zorua. It also specifically confirms that Zorua attracted to regular Lure Modules will still have an increased shiny chance. The event announcement gives no numeric odds and does not promise a shiny or a guaranteed number of shiny encounters.
To identify a shiny, look for the shiny icon above the Pokémon’s CP, as described in the Pokémon GO Help Center. Its general guidance discusses multiple kinds of shiny encounters, but that does not establish that Zorua is currently available from every encounter type.

Wild spawns or Lures: which should you choose?

Choose wild checks if you are playing during the main event; choose the lure window if you can access an active PokéStop later in the day. Both routes can produce Zorua, but neither guarantees one or guarantees a shiny.
Where does Zorua spawn outside Community Day?
Zorua has appeared in ordinary wild encounter pools and in event-themed wild spawns, including the January 2026 Precious Pals event. Those past appearances do not establish continuous availability in every location or season. For current non-event availability, check the live map and official event news rather than assuming Zorua is always in the wild pool.

Is Hisuian Zorua part of this Community Day?
No. The October 2026 announcement features standard Zorua. Hisuian Zorua is a distinct form that debuted during a 2025 Hisui event, which included wild event encounters and Collection Challenge rewards. That announcement did not state that shiny Hisuian Zorua was available, and it does not make Hisuian Zorua part of this Community Day.
