1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo use The Sims 4’s online features on PS4, connect the console to the internet, sign in to PlayStation Network, and link the PlayStation account to an EA Account if prompted. Then open the Gallery or, on the current console version, the Marketplace from inside the game. EA says PlayStation Plus is not required for Gallery access; going online does not turn The Sims 4 into a shared-world multiplayer game.
What “going online” means in The Sims 4
There are several connections involved: the PS4 needs internet access, its user needs to be signed in to PlayStation Network (PSN), and The Sims 4 may need an EA Account linked to that PlayStation account. Once those are working, you can use online services such as the Gallery and Marketplace, download content, and receive updates.

The Gallery is where players browse and share households, rooms, and lots. My Library holds creations saved for your own game. The Marketplace is a separate in-game storefront for official content and Maker Packs. These features let you share or add creations; they do not let another player join your save and control Sims alongside you.
The installed game can be played offline, but online services and additional online content require an internet connection. EA explains the distinction in its The Sims 4 FAQ.

Before you start
- Have access to a Wi-Fi network or Ethernet connection.
- Sign in to the PSN user that plays The Sims 4.
- Install any pending PS4 system or game updates.
- Have the EA Account you intend to link ready. Use the account you want associated with this PlayStation account.
- If the account is managed for a child, check family and parental-control settings with the parent or guardian.
Menu wording and placement can shift between game updates. These steps refer to the PS4 version, not the PS5 interface.
Step 1: Connect the PS4 to the internet
Set up Wi-Fi
- From the PS4 home screen, open Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Choose Use Wi-Fi, select your home network, and enter its password.
- Choose Easy for an ordinary home network and follow the prompts. Use custom or manual settings only if your network administrator or internet provider has given you specific settings.
Set up a wired connection
- Connect an Ethernet/LAN cable from the PS4 to your router.
- Open Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Choose Use a LAN Cable, then select Easy and complete the prompts.
Test the connection
Open Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection. Check that the internet connection succeeds and that the console can sign in to PlayStation Network. If the test fails, resolve the PS4’s network problem before changing game or EA Account settings. PlayStation’s PS4 connection troubleshooting guide includes this test path.

- Explore vibrant worlds: Travel between worlds, explore unique neighborhoods, and discover interesting venues
- Play with life control the rich and entertaining moments of your Sims' lives from their relationships to their career
Step 2: Sign in to PlayStation Network
Make sure the correct PS4 user is signed in to PSN. If the console’s test reports that internet works but PSN sign-in fails, the game may still be unable to reach its online services. Check that the account is not suspended or restricted, that the PS4 date and time are reasonably accurate, and that any family or privacy settings allow the online functions you want to use.
Step 3: Link The Sims 4 to an EA Account
- Start The Sims 4 and accept the EA Account connection prompt if it appears.
- Sign in with an existing EA Account or follow the prompts to create one.
- Confirm that the PlayStation account is linked to the EA Account you intend to keep using.
- If no prompt appears, look under Game Options > Other for the account-linking option.
EA documented the console account-linking location and Gallery sign-in in its console Gallery announcement. Linking the wrong EA Account can make profiles, content entitlements, and purchases confusing to manage, so do not choose an account casually.

Using the same EA Account on PC or Mac does not make those versions’ saves, creations, or purchased content automatically available on PS4. EA describes console progress and content as platform-specific in its console edition information.
Step 4: Open and use the Gallery
- Launch The Sims 4.
- From the main menu or while playing a save, select the Gallery icon in the upper-right area of the screen.
- Browse Gallery creations or profiles. To find creations you have already saved, open My Library.
- Select a household, room, or lot. Save it to your Library or place it in your game using the on-screen options.
The Gallery requires an internet connection and supports browsing, sharing, and downloading community households, rooms, and lots, according to EA’s Gallery help. EA added the Gallery to PS4 and Xbox One in January 2020; the older FAQ language saying console players could not access it predates that update.

Console players cannot install PC-style mods or custom content. A Gallery creation may also depend on packs you do not own, which can affect how it appears or whether it works as its creator intended.
Step 5: Open the Marketplace
The Marketplace arrived on PlayStation and Xbox on April 16, 2026, so PS4 players can now browse its console content in-game. Its purpose differs from the Gallery: the Marketplace offers official content categories such as Kits, Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs, as well as community-created Maker Packs.

The Marketplace requires an internet connection. Console players must complete Marketplace purchases and downloads in-game rather than on the web. Some content uses Moola, EA’s virtual currency; it is optional, not a prerequisite for using the Gallery or other online features. See EA’s console Marketplace launch announcement and Marketplace help for details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need PlayStation Plus?
EA’s 2020 console Gallery announcement says Gallery access does not require PlayStation Plus. For Gallery use, focus first on a working internet connection, PSN sign-in, EA Account linking, and service availability—not buying Plus. Sony says Plus is generally required for online multiplayer in most PS4 and PS5 games, subject to exceptions, but The Sims 4’s Gallery is not a conventional multiplayer mode. Check the current PlayStation Store or service message if the console presents a Plus prompt for a particular feature; EA’s Gallery statement does not establish the requirements for every future service. See PlayStation Plus support.
Troubleshoot a missing Gallery or failed EA connection
Work through these checks in order. Avoid deleting saved data as an early fix.
- Test the PS4 connection. Run Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection. If internet access or PSN sign-in fails, fix that first.
- Check service availability. A PlayStation Network or EA outage can block access even when your home connection works. EA’s online connection troubleshooting recommends checking service status as part of diagnosis.
- Confirm the PSN user. Make sure the correct account is signed in and that its restrictions do not block online access.
- Update and restart. Install pending system and game updates, close The Sims 4 completely, then restart the game. If needed, restart the PS4 and router.
- Check the EA Account link. In the game, look under Game Options > Other. If the link repeatedly fails, use EA Support rather than trying to attach accounts at random.
- Try the main menu. If the Gallery icon is missing or disabled inside a save, return to the main menu and check there.
- Consider restrictions or a post-update issue. Child-account settings may limit online functions or purchases. If the problem began directly after an update, check EA service notices before reinstalling the game.
If the PS4 connection and PSN sign-in succeed but The Sims 4 still cannot connect, possible causes include an EA service outage, temporary authentication failure, a broken account link, or router, DNS, NAT, or firewall settings. Restarting the router and console is a reasonable next step; persistent account-linking failures should go to EA Support.

Why a Gallery creation may not download or look right
- Missing packs: A household, room, or lot may use packs you do not own. It may not appear as shown or may lack some objects or features.
- Mods and custom content: These are not supported on PlayStation consoles, even if a PC Gallery upload uses them. EA lists this limitation in its console edition information.
- Saving versus placing: Save the creation to My Library first if you want to keep it for later, then place it from the Library when appropriate.
- Filters or service problems: Search filters, blocked users, or temporary Gallery service issues can affect what appears or downloads.
Can you play The Sims 4 online with friends on PS4?
No: connecting the PS4 does not add a shared-world mode where friends enter your save and control Sims. The useful online options are sharing and downloading creations through the Gallery, accessing Marketplace content, and using PlayStation’s own social features such as screenshots or streaming. EA’s FAQ discusses platform social functions and offline play.
