To host a safer crypto webinar, secure the meeting, limit what attendees can access, set a clear recording policy, protect private information, and present investment risks without promises of guaranteed returns. A webinar invitation is not proof that a crypto offer is legitimate: scammers may use online sessions or “personalized help” to build trust before asking for money.
Before registration opens: choose controls and limit data
Evaluate the conferencing service’s current settings and privacy terms before inviting people. Features and defaults vary, so confirm them in the service you plan to use rather than assuming a control is available or enabled.
- Check whether you can restrict attendance to invited participants, use a waiting room or admission control, and issue a fresh meeting ID or password for each event.
- Review how recording works, where recordings are stored, who can access or share them, and whether participants receive a recording indicator.
- Check whether hosts can limit participant screen sharing and remove disruptive attendees.
- Review what registration and meeting information the service collects and whether it shares information with advertisers or other third parties. Collect only the registration details the event needs, and explain how you will use them. These are practical privacy steps, not a complete privacy-law checklist.
- Check the service’s update mechanism and plan to install updates through its official channel.
The FTC’s video-conferencing guidance, published in April 2020, recommends access controls, awareness of recording, careful screen sharing, privacy-policy review, and software updates. Because platform interfaces and defaults can change, verify the current options before the event: FTC: Video conferencing: 10 privacy tips for your business.
Make the crypto content educational and transparent
Explain what the session will cover and identify any speaker or sponsor conflicts. Keep the presentation educational; do not steer attendees toward unsolicited investment opportunities or imply that a particular offer is safe simply because it is discussed in a webinar.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Be especially careful with claims about returns or risk. The SEC and CFTC warn that crypto-related investment websites using claims such as “risk-free” or “guaranteed profit” can be fraudulent. The CFTC puts it plainly: “There is no such thing as a risk-free transaction or a guaranteed money-making opportunity.” Read the agencies’ guidance: CFTC: Digital Asset Frauds and SEC/CFTC: Investor Alert on fraudulent digital asset and crypto trading websites.
Do not present one legal classification as applying to every crypto asset or transaction. The SEC’s March 2026 interpretation addresses federal securities laws for certain crypto assets and transactions; what rules apply depends on the activity, asset, offering, audience, and jurisdiction. Before the session: configure and rehearse
- Update the conferencing client. Install updates from the service’s official channel, then confirm the client opens and your host controls work. CISA also lists software updates among its core online safety practices: CISA: Secure Our World.
- Use controlled access. Invite only the intended participants. Where supported, use a fresh meeting ID or password for this event, and enable a waiting room or admission control if it suits the audience. For recurring meetings, FTC recommends not reusing old passwords or IDs. Check how the chosen service implements these options.
- Set the recording policy. Decide whether recording is necessary. If you will record, tell attendees before recording starts, explain who can access the file and how long you intend to keep it, and do not rely on an on-screen indicator alone. Meetings may be recorded or shared without participants’ knowledge. The FTC advises: “The safest strategy is to assume you might be recorded and, if possible, avoid sharing private information via video conference.”
- Prepare a clean screen. Close private documents, messages, password managers, and unrelated browser tabs. If the service allows it, share only the presentation window rather than the whole desktop. Restrict participant sharing unless it is needed, and know how to turn it off.
- Rehearse moderation. Give moderators a simple procedure for removing disruptive attendees, stopping participant sharing, and directing people to verified reporting resources. Test the relevant controls before admitting the audience.
During the webinar: protect attendees and reduce scam risk
- Never ask attendees to provide wallet seed phrases, private keys, passwords, or account recovery codes. These credentials should not be needed to attend an educational session.
- Before displaying a QR code, wallet address, or link, explain what it does and verify that it points to the intended official domain. The CFTC warns against clicking links or QR codes in unsolicited communications because they may lead to spoofed sites.
- Tell attendees to be skeptical of urgency, guaranteed returns, and requests to pay extra money to recover supposed profits or principal. CFTC describes scams that escalate from an initial payment to demands for additional fees or taxes.
- Keep the meeting under host or moderator control. If someone posts a suspicious link, impersonates a speaker, or makes an unsolicited pitch, stop the activity, remove the participant if needed, and direct attendees to independently verified resources.
After the event: handle recordings and reports carefully
Limit access to any recording to the people who need it, and follow the retention plan you explained to attendees. Share it only through the channel you intended; a recording can expose participant names, images, voices, or chat messages even if the presentation itself contains no sensitive information.
Provide official reporting directions and a way to report suspected impersonation of the event or its speakers. The FTC’s educational webinar description covers common scam types and where to report them: FTC: Pass It On—Scams webinar. For current consumer warnings, consult the CFTC’s Digital Asset Frauds guidance.
