To import a Streamlabs Desktop scene collection, open OBS Studio’s Settings > Importers, enable “Search known locations for scene collections when importing”, then choose Scene Collection > Import. Select the detected collection, and select it again from the Scene Collection menu to activate it. The built-in importer handles the migration; the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS is not required.
Import your Streamlabs Desktop scenes into OBS
- Open the importer option: In OBS Studio, click Settings, then Importers.
- Enable detection: Turn on “Search known locations for scene collections when importing.” OBS uses this option to look for Streamlabs Desktop collections in known locations.
- Import the collection: From the top menu, choose Scene Collection > Import.
- Choose the detected Streamlabs collection: Select the collection you want to bring into OBS.
- Activate it: Open the Scene Collection menu and select the imported collection. Importing adds it to the available collections; selecting it makes it active.
These steps follow the import workflow documented by Streamlabs in “How to Import Scenes from Streamlabs Desktop to OBS,” last updated February 6, 2026, and OBS’s Scene Collections documentation (OBS Project).
What transfers—and what to check afterward
A scene collection contains scenes and their sources. It also includes global audio sources configured under Settings > Audio, according to OBS. This does not mean every part of a Streamlabs setup is carried over: Streamlabs notes that output configurations, hotkeys, and audio settings may need to be set up again in OBS.
- Check each imported scene and its sources. Files, capture devices, and other external sources still need to be available to OBS on this computer.
- Recheck audio preferences and global audio sources, then confirm that the intended devices and levels are in use.
- Review output settings and hotkeys instead of assuming they migrated.
- Test the scenes and settings before using them in a live broadcast or recording.
Streamlabs identifies settings that may need manual setup in its import guide, last updated February 6, 2026. The exact result can depend on the collection and the files or devices it references.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Scene Collections and Profiles do different jobs
Use a Scene Collection for the layouts and sources you switch between. Use an OBS Profile for stream, video, and output settings. Profiles do not contain scenes, and Scene Collections do not contain output settings.
| OBS item | What it stores | Relevant action |
|---|---|---|
| Scene Collection | Scenes and sources, including global audio sources configured in Settings > Audio | Scene Collection > Import to bring in a collection; select it from the Scene Collection menu to activate it |
| Profile | Stream, video, and output settings; it does not store scenes | Profiles can be imported or exported as JSON |
OBS explains the distinction in its Profiles and Scene Collections documentation.

If OBS does not find the collection
- No Streamlabs collection appears under Import: Return to Settings > Importers and confirm that “Search known locations for scene collections when importing” is enabled, then reopen Scene Collection > Import. The documented workflow uses known-location detection; it does not specify every reason detection might fail.
- The imported scenes are not showing: Open the Scene Collection menu and explicitly select the imported collection. Importing alone does not activate it.
- Audio, hotkeys, or output behave differently: Check those settings in OBS and configure them as needed; Streamlabs says these may require setup again.
- A source is missing or unavailable: Inspect the source in the imported scene and verify that its referenced file or device is available on this computer.
Do you need the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS?
No. The plugin is an optional integration for Streamlabs widgets, alerts, overlays, and other features inside OBS; it is not the mechanism for importing a Streamlabs Desktop scene collection. Streamlabs’ guide, last updated October 1, 2026, says the plugin requires OBS Studio 28.0.0 or later and is currently available on Windows. The guide says it is free to download and use, while features including multistream and some premium overlays are part of Streamlabs Ultra. Availability and requirements can change, so check Streamlabs’ current plugin guide if you want those integrations.

If your goal after setting up OBS is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option—not a scene importer and not a way to broadcast from a camera. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
