Before installing: check your edition and entitlement
The current edition is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. CD PROJEKT RED lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included with the Remastered update, according to the official release announcement.
Whether you can claim the update without paying depends on the license you own and the platform or storefront where you play. For PC, CD PROJEKT RED lists GOG, Steam, and Epic Games Store for existing-owner upgrades, and Battle.net and Microsoft Store for purchase. On consoles, check the product page while signed in to the account that holds your license; the announcement and FAQ do not establish every disc-owner, region, or account-transfer case.
Cross-progression does not change that entitlement: a save can move between supported platforms, but you still need a license for each platform on which you want to install and play.

How do I install The Witcher 3 on PC?
- Check that your PC meets the current system requirements before downloading. CD PROJEKT RED says Windows 10 is no longer officially supported and an SSD is required for the current technical enhancements. Performance varies with hardware, resolution, and graphics settings.
- Sign in to the account that owns the game or eligible upgrade in GOG, Steam, or Epic Games Store. If you are buying the Remastered edition, CD PROJEKT RED also lists Battle.net and Microsoft Store.
- Find the game in that storefront’s library or store, choose the available Remastered edition or update, and install it to a drive with enough free space.
- Wait for the storefront to finish downloading and applying updates, then launch the game through that same storefront.
Launcher interfaces and labels differ, so there is no single click-by-click path that applies to every PC storefront. If the game or upgrade does not appear, confirm you are signed in to the account that holds the license and check the storefront’s product page.
How do I download The Witcher 3 on PS5?
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that owns the game or eligible upgrade.
- Open your PlayStation library or the PlayStation Store, locate the PS5 product, and confirm it is the edition you intend to install.
- Download and install it, then launch it from the console library.
CD PROJEKT RED identifies PS5 as a Remastered platform, but the official pages do not spell out every current screen or all disc-owner upgrade cases. Check the PS5 product page for the entitlement attached to your account or disc before installing.

How do I install The Witcher 3 on Xbox Series X|S?
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game or eligible upgrade.
- Open your console library or Microsoft Store, find the product page, and select the Xbox Series X|S version that matches your entitlement.
- Install the game and launch it from your library when installation and updates are complete.
The release announcement lists Xbox Series X|S as supported and says the game is available through Microsoft Store as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. It does not provide a complete install walkthrough for every Xbox One, Series X|S, digital-license, and physical-disc combination. Confirm the edition and entitlement shown on your console’s product page.
Can I play my old Witcher 3 save on the Remastered edition?
Yes. CD PROJEKT RED’s cross-progression guide says the latest saves are uploaded to the cloud, allowing you to continue on another platform. To move a save:

- Update the game to the latest patch on the source platform.
- Open Load Game and select Cross Progression, then connect the game to your CD PROJEKT RED account.
- Create a new save so it can upload to the cloud.
- On the destination platform, open My Rewards and connect the same CD PROJEKT RED account.
- Load the uploaded save.
Menu names and patch requirements can change; consult the current support instructions if the labels differ. Existing saves are compatible with Remastered, but the skill-system overhaul resets your skills, so you will need to assign them again.

A clean reinstall is a troubleshooting measure, not the normal first-install procedure. CD PROJEKT RED’s PC clean-install instructions call for backing up saves, disabling cloud saves, uninstalling the game, removing the specified client and Documents folders, restarting the PC, and reinstalling without mods. Restore backed-up saves afterward if needed. Follow the support page’s folder instructions exactly; deleting the wrong files can remove data you intended to keep.
Which platform should I use?
Start with the platform where you already own the game, then check whether that account or disc grants access to the desired version. If you are choosing a new platform, consider whether your PC meets the current requirements and whether you want to carry saves between systems. The official release describes Path Tracing for PC and PS5 Pro support, but it does not establish identical features or performance across platforms.
