BlueStacks 5 works on Windows 11. To install it reliably, check your PC, confirm hardware virtualization, download the installer from BlueStacks, choose a drive with room to grow, then sign in to Google Play and test an app. The 4 GB RAM and 5 GB storage listed by BlueStacks are minimums, not comfortable targets for modern games.
BlueStacks is an Android app player for Windows—not a phone-mirroring tool or a Microsoft Store app. It is useful for keyboard-and-mouse gaming, larger-screen Android apps, multi-instance play and some app testing. Compatibility still depends on the Android instance, app architecture, graphics mode, region, certification and whether the publisher blocks emulators.
What you need before installing
BlueStacks’ product page lists these minimum requirements:

See the current requirements at BlueStacks 5. In practice, 8 GB RAM or more, an SSD, updated GPU drivers and hardware virtualization provide a much better starting point. Leave substantially more than 5 GB free for Android instances, games, updates, caches and user data. A stable internet connection is also needed for the installer, Play Store downloads and game files.

Windows 11 has separate requirements such as a compatible 64-bit processor, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot capability. Those are requirements for Windows itself, not extra BlueStacks requirements; Microsoft documents them at Windows 11 requirements.
Check hardware virtualization
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Performance, then CPU.
- Find Virtualization and check its status.
Enabled: continue with installation. Disabled: enable it in UEFI/BIOS if your computer supports it. Not supported: BlueStacks’ limited 32-bit fallback may work, but performance and compatibility can suffer. If the field is missing or unclear, check your computer or motherboard manufacturer’s documentation. BlueStacks describes this check at its Windows 11 virtualization guide.
Enable virtualization when it is disabled
- Open Settings and go to Windows Update > Advanced options > Recovery.
- Under Advanced startup, select Restart now.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart.
- In firmware setup, enable the setting appropriate to your processor. Intel systems commonly call it Intel Virtualization Technology, Intel VT-x or VT; AMD systems commonly use SVM Mode or AMD-V.
- Save the change and reboot Windows.
Firmware menus differ by manufacturer, motherboard and chipset, so there is no universal BIOS path. Change only the virtualization setting when possible, and photograph or record the original value before saving. An unrelated firmware change can prevent a system from booting correctly.

Use the official Windows download page: https://www.bluestacks.com/download.html. The base BlueStacks 5 download is presented without a mandatory purchase requirement in the product material, but do not assume that optional Prime benefits or pricing are included.

- Avoid third-party download portals, modified or “cracked” installers and search advertisements imitating the BlueStacks domain.
- Do not use an old offline installer unless BlueStacks Support specifically directs you to it.
- Download the Windows
.exe, and keep Windows security software enabled. If security software blocks the file, investigate the detection rather than permanently disabling protection.
BlueStacks supports clients downloaded from its official website; it does not guarantee clients obtained elsewhere.
Install BlueStacks 5
- Open the downloaded
.exeand approve the Windows permission prompt if it appears. - On the installer screen, choose Customize installation if the default drive lacks adequate space.
- Select a fast destination drive with room for future growth. This location can contain BlueStacks files, Android instances, applications, game files and caches—not merely the small installer.
- Click Install now and wait while the installer downloads and configures required files.
- When setup finishes, launch BlueStacks from the Start menu or desktop shortcut and allow the first startup to complete.
Labels and branding can change between releases, but the functions are the same. The Windows 11 walkthrough is documented by BlueStacks at its installation guide.
Sign in to Google Play and install an app
- Open Google Play Store inside BlueStacks.
- Sign in with a Google account you are comfortable associating with an emulator. You can also use Settings > Account > Add Account.
- Search for an app or game, select Install, then launch it from the BlueStacks home screen.
Prefer Google Play over unknown APK sites. A successful Google login does not guarantee that every app will run: publishers can require a particular Android version, certification, architecture or region, and some anti-cheat systems block emulators.

- BlueStacks opens without an incompatible-settings warning.
- Virtualization is detected as expected.
- The Play Store opens and a test app installs.
- Audio, graphics, keyboard and mouse input work.
- Windows remains usable while BlueStacks runs.
- The selected drive still has adequate free space.
Hyper-V on Windows 11: leave it on or turn it off?
Do not disable Hyper-V as a blanket fix. BlueStacks states that version 5.20 and later can run with Hyper-V enabled or disabled, and the official installer is designed to detect Hyper-V and install the compatible version. Use the current official installer first, especially if you rely on Windows Sandbox, virtual machines, Windows Subsystem for Linux or other virtualization features. If Hyper-V is enabled and BlueStacks reports a permissions problem, the account may need membership in the Hyper-V Administrators group. In an elevated Command Prompt, replace <username> with the actual Windows account name:
net localgroup "Hyper-V Administrators" <username> /addRestart afterward. This is a troubleshooting step, not a command every user needs to run.
If Hyper-V is disabled, still begin with the standard installer. Only change Windows virtualization features for a specific compatibility reason or an official support instruction; toggling them can affect other software. BlueStacks instance choices may include Nougat 32-bit, Nougat 64-bit, Pie 64-bit or Android 11, but the exact choices vary by release.
Fix common installation and startup problems
Installer hangs or fails
- Restart Windows, including any pending-update restart.
- Delete the incomplete installer and download a fresh copy from the official page.
- Confirm free space on the destination drive and administrator access.
- Install Windows and graphics-driver updates, then run the installer as administrator if required.
- Remove an incomplete prior installation using BlueStacks’ official cleanup instructions, reboot and reinstall.
- If Hyper-V is enabled, use the current Hyper-V-compatible build instead of forcing an incompatible instance.
Do not delete arbitrary BlueStacks folders or registry keys without a specific official cleanup procedure.

“Incompatible Windows settings” appears
- Recheck Task Manager > Performance > CPU > Virtualization.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current release from the official site.
- Determine whether Hyper-V is enabled and use the compatible build if it must remain enabled.
- Only if you do not need Hyper-V and official support recommends it, consider changing that configuration, then reinstall.
BlueStacks is slow
- Enable hardware virtualization and update graphics drivers.
- Close memory-heavy applications and reduce the number of running instances.
- Check whether Windows is assigning BlueStacks to an integrated GPU when a dedicated GPU is available.
- Move the installation and game data to a fast, non-full SSD.
- Review BlueStacks’ in-app CPU, memory, graphics and frame-rate settings.
BlueStacks advertises a possible five-times performance increase from virtualization, but that is a vendor claim, not a universal result; actual gains depend on the PC, game, settings and workload.
Google Play will not sign in
- Confirm internet access and correct Windows date and time.
- Restart BlueStacks and install its latest update.
- Try removing and re-adding the Google account.
- Use documented BlueStacks steps to clear Play Store or Google Play Services data if necessary.
- Stop repeated attempts if Google presents an account-security challenge.
Sideloading an APK does not reliably solve authentication, licensing or certification problems.
A particular game is incompatible
Try a different Android instance, including a 64-bit instance for a 64-bit-only app, and use the Android version supported by the publisher. Update both BlueStacks and the game, check regional availability, and confirm whether the publisher blocks emulators. Successful installation of BlueStacks is not the same as universal app compatibility.

Games, updates, caches and multiple instances can greatly exceed the 5 GB product minimum. Move or recreate instances on a drive with more capacity where BlueStacks supports that operation, and keep free space available for updates.

When virtualization is genuinely unsupported
This is an exception, not the normal installation route. BlueStacks’ documented fallback requires uninstalling BlueStacks 5, BlueStacks X and BlueStacks Services, using its official cleaner when a clean removal is necessary, then installing the specified 32-bit build (the surfaced support article names BlueStacks 5.14.22). Performance problems are possible; follow the current support article at the no-virtualization instructions.
Before uninstalling, synchronize game progress and back up anything important. Removing components can delete local applications, instances and game data.
Alternatives to BlueStacks

BlueStacks is a good fit when you want consumer-friendly Android gaming, keyboard mapping or multi-instance use and have adequate RAM, storage and virtualization. A physical device or developer emulator is preferable when hardware-accurate behavior, official certification or debugging matters.
