How to install Borderlands 4 now
Use the platform account that owns your digital copy, open its store or game library, and choose the game’s download or install option. Store interfaces can change, so look for the current control on your platform rather than relying on a fixed menu path.

Can you still preload Borderlands 4?
No. Preloading refers to downloading a game before its release; Borderlands 4 has been released since September 12, 2025. The publisher’s current game page lists it as available worldwide, so the relevant step now is a regular installation. (2K Newsroom)

What was known about preload availability at launch?
The available official pages confirm the supported platforms and release date, but do not provide a complete historical preload timetable for every platform and store. A PC Gamer report published September 10, 2025 said Steam preloading was still unavailable when its staff checked. That is a snapshot from that date—not current Steam status, and not evidence about Epic Games Store. (PC Gamer)
PC Gamer also reported that the console launch unlocked at midnight local time on September 12, 2025, except in Los Angeles, where it unlocked at 9 p.m. on September 11. This is a historical report, not a schedule for downloading the game today. (PC Gamer)

What if you have a physical console copy?
Borderlands Support says the Standard Edition was physical for consoles and digital on all listed platforms. If you have a physical PS5 or Xbox copy, use the console’s disc installation flow rather than looking for a digital purchase in your account library. The publisher’s FAQ does not describe a separate current preload process for physical copies. (Borderlands Support FAQ)
